BenjaminHowarth
So I have always wanted to make a fallout style game from scratch but could never do it myself. How many of you have the skills but not the time? How many people do you really think it would take to make a Fallout style openworld game that was online and multiplayer (better than FO76 of course)
metaphorset
What do you have in mind? Full time development? Who's gonna pay for them? Hobbyist project? Have fun organizing that. For a hobbyist project, maybe even free and open source? About a 150 extremely talented and dedicated people should do. If you want to have a half-decent project in maybe 8 to 10 years, that is. Probably longer. Double the team size and get down to about two thirds (overhead for team management). That'll include game engine devs (because you can't do s#*! with UE4 or whatever existing game development engine out there out of the box, they all still need a lot of work), 3D artists, designers, good story tellers, people who are able to create good quests out of the stories... Then you still need voice actors (better than FO76 of course), composers, beta testers (better than the ones who worked on any BGS game so far), game testers, game breakers... Enderal took about 5 years, not including that year that went into all the planning that happened before Skyrim was even released. And it almost broke some people who worked on it. You see where this is going?
Zorkaz
There's a saying. Every minute you enjoy on a mod took a modder hours to make. So well do the math on a project like this
