texture\mesh problem

i got some mods that add new weapons, amors and functions recently, that are messed up.

-fine leather coat

-alien rifle and gatling laser mod

-robco certified thing that lets u remake robots.

 

they all basically have the same problem, aside from the weapons, slightly different

-the armor is almost chameleon style, it blends in with surroundings depending on camer angle, if im standing near rocks or paper, the coat turns to rocks or paper depending on angle.

-the weapons, simple to explain enough, the laser colour texture change w\e, doesnt show, its the same. the alien rifle is changing like the armor, only not surroundings, just almost random colours, and standing in front of lights, it just goes bright white

-the robots, not as complicated, but it shows all the internal textures and meshes depending on proximity and angle, one stage u can see through it, basically its outer shell showing only, next its all the internal textures (its actually really quite detailed) cords, metal, w\e. anyhow, i think all these problems are related, and can be solved with one action.

 

i dont know how to take screenshots, so can someone plz tell me so i can upload some pics, even if they dont help, its still funny.

specs, for what its worth:

nvidia gforce 9600gt m

vista home premium (sigh, vista terrible)

2gb ram

direct x 10

intel core 2 duo 2.26 ghz

 

thats basically everything that matters right?

You haven't really explained enough to get to the bottom of this.

 

Have you put all the textures into the correct folders?

Have you added the correct lines to ArchiveInvalidation.txt?

Is the ArchiveInvalidation.txt in the correct folder?

I'm not sure if it needs to be done for textures but have you changed bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 in the FALLOUT.ini?

Are you using the Fallout Launcher or FOMM to start the game?

Are you using vista or XP?

yeah, i said i use vista. unfortunatly. the archive invalidation fallout.ini is done, i do use fomm since u recommended it to me XD, and all the mods are in the correct folders: meshes in meshes, texture in texture and etc. but whats this i hear about u need an archive invalidatino txt in folders? i thought it was just the ini file only.

There are two separate files.

 

The FALLOUT.ini for the bInvalidateOlderFiles.

 

The ArchiveInvalidation.txt goes in the main Fallout directory and should link the new textures. That should definitely be explained in the readme for any of the textures you are adding. There isn't one by default so you may need to add it.

ah so what do i do then?

kinda new to this, but never needed to do this for oblivion so im kinda confused.

 

You need to make a new file in your main Fallout 3 directory called ArchiveInvalidation and it needs to be saved as a txt file. You then enter the new texture paths into this.

 

For example I use the Atmospheric sun Glare. the textures have been added to the correct folder. In the ArchiveInvalidation.txt I have also added textures/sky/sunglare.dds and textures/sky/sun.dds. These are the links to the new textures.

 

Your new texture readme should explain all of this.

 

Another easier option is to use ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated : http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=944

 

I think it still pays to know how to do it manually as well but everyone to their own :biggrin:
