Thoughts on The Elder Scrolls Vl

Ok, first, the 'Gods'. The Gods of the TES universe are entities known as Et'ada, and arose from the interplay between Padomay (change) and Anu (stasis). The Aedra and Daedra differ only in their involvement in the creation of Nirn, and are all divine beings representing a single aspect of existance. Mara, for instance, IS love, while Mehrunes Dagon is change through destruction. At the same time, each god is viewed differently by different cultures. To the Cyrodiilic pantheon, the Dragon God is Akatosh, to the Aldmeri pantheion it is Aur'el (or several other spellings there of). Both are the same, but different, embodying particular aspects of the True god.

Second, the Elder Scrolls. They are the driving force behind ever TES game, right from the get-go. Everything you do is written in the Elder Scrolls, and at least in Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion, the startof the game is a direct prophesy from the scrolls. I personally take this further and beleive the PC's are the aspects of the Scrolls themselves, but thats something for another place and time.

Third, the Dwemer. We know, mostly, what happened to the Dwemer. They became a god. They created the Numidium (also known as the Brass Tower) as a means to regain their lost divinity, and in doing so consumed their entire race to fuel it. Apparently it takes a lot of power to become divine. Or it could mean that the Et'ada who became the Mer literally fragmented... but anyway, whatever the reason, they 'uncreated' themselves by becomming the Numidium, which the Tribunal promptly shut off by removing the Heart of Lorkhan from the golem. We know of one individual who escaped, and some of the technology on Umbriel indicates more may still be found in the outer planes, but as it stands the only survivor we know of is Bagarn.

I predict the next game will be set in Valenwood or the Summerset Isles. (Though I'd love to see both as a single setting for variation.) Will probably deal with whatever the heck the Thalmor are up to - they've certainly been set up as prime villain material in Skyrim. Also the Psijic order, who kinda showed up out of nowhere in Skyrim, are based outside the Summerset Isles so that might have been forshadowing.

I'd love a kind of pirate-ish setting with sailable ships and islands to explore.

There are still a lot of mysteries i want to be solved.. such as the origin of the so called GODS... because there are just a lot of them..

i would also like to know whether trinimac is stronger than jyggalag, or who is auri-el.. im just so confused..

That's more of a Lore issue, so I doubt it will be part of any game plot. Of course it's confusing - every people in the world would have had their own gods, many being variations of other people's gods. See, as far as I can understand, the lore is... well, folklore, basically. Legends, oral tradition, campfire stories, stuff various people in Tamriel happen to believe. I don't think it's supposed to make coherent sense because these people don't have a single coherent mythology.

That's one of the things I really like about these games - their mythology seems to work the same way that mythology works in real life.

Difficult to say what VI will be about, though I would say it's unlikely to do anything about the Thalmor or anything introduced during Skyrim. If you consider the plots of Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind, and Oblivion, there really isn't any sort of connection or foreshadowing going on, so there is no precedence to assume Skyrim will be any different. Additionally it's simply easier on the writers to put several hundred years between games so they don't have to make sure they aren't accidentally creating plot holes or lore inconsistencies; it's also easier for new players to join the franchise (particularly important for the RPG genre) if they don't have to worry about not knowing what happened in the previous game that can't be summarized in two sentences.

It's likely Bethesda will continue the tradition of setting new games in different provinces and we've already seen Morrowind, Cyrodil, and Skyrim, so that leaves us with the Black Marsh, Elsweyr, Valenwood, Summerset Isle, Hammerfell, and High Rock. Bethesda also has a tradition of trying to push the envelope graphics-wise, so we might be able to rule out Hammerfell (already saw a desert in Morrowind), High Rock (doesn't sound too different from Skyrim, maybe more Greenland-ish if Skyrim is Iceland-ish), and Black Marsh (unless swamps are actually popular), leaving us with Elsweyr (sounds like it has a huge variety of climates and terrain), Valenwood (thick forest, migratory trees, cities swallowed up by nature. etc.), and Summerset Isle (exotic, towering cities made of glass).

If I had to guess, it would probably be set in the Summerset Isle. Valenwood sounds interesting, but a dynamic terrain may be too much to handle with current engine/console limitations, while Elsweyr needs to be dominated by Khajiit to make any sense, which might narrow its appeal (seeing cat faces everywhere is fine for icanhascheezburger and youtube, but maybe not for an entire game). Altmer are human-like enough (provided they aren't the horrifying hag faces like in vanilla Skyrim) that you can wander through a crowd of them without the experience being too jarring.

Plot wise? Ancient evil threatens to return to the world/is starting to return to the world, PC is a prisoner who is recently released/escaped, prophecy dictates PC will put an end to the threat.

OOOORRRRRRRRRRRRR,, the oblivion planes and the nirn would merge as one, creating a world where there is only one rule: Kill or be killed, each daedric prince would then wage war to gain vasts lands... this would surely be more chaotic than what happened to oblivion.

NVM the merging thing. Setting it in oblivion realms would be damn cool. If you could travel between several of them for whatever reason (including SI <3) that'd be quite nice ^^

Tamriel has been conquered by the Akaviri and the player joins a small rebellion (initially) that eventually pushes back the invaders. :whistling:

Which Akaviri? There are several, and none of them really get along. :P

The Snake Guys.....maybe like the Yuan Ti from D&D.
