@LH;

See here: "Witch Hunt... Opinions?"

(NOTE: Your Warden's gender doesn't really matter, although in the vanilla game it's impossible for Morigan's Relationship Status to be "In_Love" with a female Warden. In Witch Hunt this only means certain conversations are worded a bit differently and the motivation for one of the possible endings is more... platonic than the male equivalent.)

After reading that, come back to these notes. :thumbsup:

If I were writing that WH article today, (now that it's been quite a while since release) I might have put the following additional detail into the synopsis:

a. The first new companion you meet (at Flemeth's hut in the Korcari Wilds) is Ariane. She's a Dalish Elf Warrior, (from the same clan as yourself, if you are one.) She's hunting Morrigan to recover the book that Morri took from them.

b. The other new companion is Finn, (Florian Phineas Horatio Aldebrant, Esq.) a Human Circle Mage and über-bookworm who hates being outdoors ("Mud and mosquitos...") and is prone to fainting.

c. The "Eluvian" (Elvish for "mirror") that caused your Dalish Elf Warden (if you played that Origin) to become tainted is the plot link to DAO. These magic mirrors can be used as portals.

d. The Cadash Thaig of DAO's "The Stone Prisoner" was formerly known as "Cad'halash", and the Dwarves there had provided refuge to Elves fleeing the Imperium.

c. In the dénouement, Morrigan explains that she is attempting to prepare for "what is to come", and that the world is "about to change", and that Flemeth is somehow involved. (She addresses the "But I killed Flemeth!?!" objection along the way.)

After a long convo in which the Warden gets to pursue several plot threads -- the OGB (if the DR was performed), past actions, status of the relationship with Morri, etc., there are three possible endings. In all of them, the Dalish get their book back;

1. Accompany Morrigan through the portal to "... somewhere else". That "somewhere" being "somewhere safe for the (male) child", if there was one.

2. Strike to kill Morrigan, who then falls through the portal to "somewhere else". Presumably, but not definitely, dead...

3. Allow Morrigan to leave through the portal alone.

Hope that provides enough for you. :biggrin:

Just a note, Ariane isn't from the same clan as the Dalish Warden (whose keeper is Marethari.) She's from one of the numerous wandering clans guided by Keeper Solan (who is male btw.)

Wait, so two different clans uncovered an Eluvian, one of the most rare and enigmatic Elven artifacts of the time before the loss of Arlathan? And which upon shattering killed one of their hunters and from which another was able to escape? Don't care about the name of the Keeper, this is the same clan. :tongue:

Ariane's clan never came across the mirror, rather she's seeking an ancient tome Morrigan stole from her clan. Since it's written in ancient elvish and the Dalish have lost most of their history, language, etc. the only thing her keeper knew about the book was that it was a treatise on something the ancients called an "Eluvian."

Only when you head to the library in the circle will you discover Eluvian is the ancient elven word for mirror. If you played a Dalish elf, you can tell her and Finn that you came across such a mirror and destroyed it. If you played through from another origin Ariane mentions another Dalish clan who came across such a mirror and lost two hunters to it before moving north out of sorrow. (I'd have to play it through again to remember her reference for non-Dalish Wardens better as it's been awhile, but she mentions one hunter disappearing and the other dying shortly after to some mysterious illness.)

@littlestbirds;

Apologies. You are totally correct.

I have played through so many times with so many different characters that I conflated my own Dalish Elf's convo about becoming tainted with Ariane's convo to "reference" the previous encounter with the Eluvian if you play any other origin.

Elves from two clans with same goal (if not same motivation): Find Morrigan! :thumbsup:
