h2a02kej Posted January 4, 2013 Share Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) Hi All, Quick Version; Are there any mods that changes the way aliens spawn and act, so instead of them only being able to shoot you after a mutual spotting incident, they can shoot you, without you having spotted them yet (like original X-Com) ? Longer Version; As many people, there are some things i like about the new X-Com, and there are a lot of things that i hate. The premiere thing i hate, and which caused me to never actually complete any single X-Com 2012 game) is the fact that the entire strategic battlescape is centered around the spotting incident between your squad and the aliens. In practice this makes for incredibly stupid tactics to actually be the best. In my experience, the single best tactic is to put all your men in one single line, and then move through the territory like a snake (works best outdoors, OK indoors). In this way, in 95% of all cases, you will have your entire squad with both turns left (one will have only one turn) when spotting an enemy. Which again leads to alien death before they can do anything in app. 50% of the cases. And we all know, that if the spotting happens in the alien turn, it's just as bad for the aliens. The most hilarious thing is, that i have seen an interview with the lead game designers, where one them is telling what first intrigued him with the original X-Com. He then tells the story of him naming his first five soldiers after his famliy. On first mission, those five are first off the skyranger. One walks down. Gets blown to pieces by a green shot coming out of darkness. Next one goes down - same story. Until all his family lies dead on the battlefield. ........ Then why - oh why - would they make anything like this impossible to experience in the remake ? So are there any mod, that changes this ? So aliens all spawn on mission start, and both try to find you (or hide if hurt, outnumbered etc.) and will be able to properly ambush you, if they discover you in their own turn. ?
