diminishedtob
Hello, I'm just curious but what is the rough "limit" of mods you can use before Skyrim starts to bug out/crash? Or does it just matter on how big the mods are themselves?
AlexanderJVelicky
It really depends on the mods, how well they're made, and what exactly they do. The technical limit is 254 now I believe. You can not have any more than that. However, depending on how good your load order is; you could put in as little as 5 (Or even 1) mod and it could destroy your game. Or, with careful precision and a meticulous eye, you could get well over 100 mods working. So it really depends on the mods you plan on using. Fewer more demanding ones, or more less demanding ones. Oubliette
255 is the mod limit, including esm's. 320 including BSA's and you'll start having problems with NMM and Wrye Bash. Other than that the poster above me is right, it depends on your computer, your skill and experience installing mods and the mods you decide to install. I got up to 320
AlexanderJVelicky
255 is the mod limit, including esm's.Considering that 256 is the true limit, but Skyrim.esm being one, we now have to worry about Update.esm as well, making the limit 254. Less for each DLC you have as well. Edited January 5, 2013 by AlexanderJVelicky
LoanSharke
And I was wondering why I couldn't get it to work with 287. lol I had it working at around 260. Just have to figure out which mods to dump now. Great thread and thanks for asking the question I wanted to. :)
steve40
Removing mods from a game in progress is a great way to introduce bugs and crashes.
grumani
I have right at 250 and have done much of the patching myself--with a mix of demanding and less demanding mods that is pretty stable. With work, you can make it stable at/near the limit.
thalian1
When you guys say there is a 256 limit of mods do you mean mods themselves or the plugins they create? I have 279 mods in the right pane of MO and 156 plugins in the left pane. thanks
