You have to install it into the root Fallout 3 folder (where Fallout3.exe is).
ManIndaHat
maybe they should have kept it for a little bit longer and fixed it up?

Syntax1985
Well 6.5billion errors messages later, ive FINALLY finished vault 74 lol. the tutorial is pretty good, but doesn't cover alot of the in depth things HOWEVER, at a glance ( im new modder purely to Fo3 ), so i downloaded and installed the oblivion SDK, it looks the same and seems to function pretty much the same way, so my advise for people trying to work out how to do stuff not covered in the geck tutorial would be to check out some of the oblivion mod tutorials. Syntax1985
actually, im going to give an example here of how annoying the G.E.C.K is,. im editing clover, giving her new hair etc, why ? because current mods for her clash with face make-up mods etc, its annoying. sop i edit her, get her looking great, i even removed her slave collar, last thing i wanted to do, was to change her starting armor, so while clicking around trying to find out how to do it, i accidently clicked an option to change the texture of the 1950's pre-war dirty spring outfit, it asks me if i want to accept , i click NO, Well it turns out, the option in geck isn't YES -> continue , and NO-> for cancel and go back to what you were doing. its YES -> to continue, and NO-> well then GTFO the program. *Sigh, back to square 1, lessoned learned tho, SAVE EVERY 10/15 SECONDS!!! lol... Syntax1985
how do you save? I was doing the Vault 74 tutorial... and thought I saved my ESP especially since it showed up in the Data Files. Then my computer crashed and when I loaded GECK up again and double clicked Vault 74 all the items i put in it showed up on the Cell View... but no level in the Viewer window :( Im looking at the Wiki tutorials but dont see any specifics on correct saving or loading. :( sry im a n00b modder NEVER MIND! i just figured out how to do it! haha, the Vault 74 still isnt showing up though when i do the COD Vault74 text in the console though... :/ if it showed up in your data as an .esp, you did save it :P, however if u exited the program u will need to re-load, remember the saved esps go to your /fallout3/data folder. At least it then gives you a confirmation that says "Are you sure you want to leave the program?" TESCS didn't even do that. You hit "No" and you get an immediate exit.
