Deleted82427968User Posted June 4, 2020 Share Posted June 4, 2020 I am using a mod that allows crafting of ammo variants that you couldn't otherwise craft, such as 5.56mm Armor Piercing, 5.56mm Hollow Point, etc. The only issue is that the mod requires you to have the hand loader perk to work, which I found odd. I wanted to make the requirement be more about skills than needing a perk, so I want to add the Guns and Explosives requirement to the ammo, but I can't figure out how to add another skill requirement, only replace it with another. For examples, I want 5.56mm Armor Piercing to require both Repair and Guns, and .50 MG Explosive to require Repair, Guns, AND Explosives. Is this possible? I know this might be better with the GECK but I'm just more familiar with FNVEdit and never needed the GECK for anything before. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
dubiousintent Posted June 4, 2020 Share Posted June 4, 2020 (edited) In general terms, FNVEdit is an "editor" for resolving "record level conflicts" and creating patches. Adding new records generally is beyond it's scope, though you can "copy" records from another plugin into a compatibility patch: which is just determining which plugin's version of a record "wins". But adding new elements to an existing record usually requires the GECK. (Though I will be the first to admit, there are many abilities of FNVEdit I have never investigated. Hopefully someone more experienced will know the solution and jump in.) Sometimes I have found you can add a "field" to a part of a record, if that is normally an option in that part of the record. In my case I discovered it due to a difference between the same record in two different plugins while making a "compatibility patch", so I just tried using "insert" (I think; memory is fuzzy) at the same place in the record that was missing it in my patch file. There are many things that are much easier to do with the GECK than FNVEdit. In your case it's time to stop trying to use a screw driver to do what a can opener was made for.
