Yespur
Hi everyone! I played Skyrim on my PC when it was released but unfortunately I only played about a third of the game. I aim to correct that mistake now ;) Thing is, when it comes to the Elder Scrolls games (and open-world games in general), I am a hoarder and a completionist. Collecting artifacts, weapons, all different suits of armor, gems and other rare or valuable items is one of my main goals when playing these games. Thus I need a good house to store and show all these items. I'm aware that there are a bazillion different house mods, and a lot of them very good. However I am not really into the mod scene of Skyrim and I could really need some help identify a house mod that suits my needs. I'm looking for a house mod that: * Have PLENTY of armor mannequins/armor stands* Have a lot of other display cases / shelves for other items* Isn't too big - I don't want a grand castle, rather a small house/basement For reference, I used All In One Basement in Oblivion, and I really liked that house, it was perfect for my needs. If you know of any house that you think would suit me please let me know! :)
Sjogga
You might want to take a look at The Dawnspire. The amount of weapon racks/plaques/cases matches the amount of unique weapons in the game (~90). It also have some other really neat features for the horder, such as an automatic sorting system and a spell to send items from your inventory to the house from anywhere in the world. It is however fairly big, but the option to teleport between floors makes it feel smaller than it is. There are a lot more to the mod, so press the link in my signature if you want more info.
ZeroSaber39
Never used the all in one basement mod in oblivion but from looking at it the Dovahkiin Hideout might interest you, it adds a basement that connects to all the vanilla player homes, I can't comment too much on it since I don't use it personally (it makes my game crash when I try to enter Breezehome, it seems to be because I have the HearthFires DLC installed). There's also Dovahkiin Hideout - COMPACT version by the same author, it does the same thing as the non compact version but the "basement" isn't as large, I don't personally use this one either. My Personal choice is a newer, less popular mod called Gallery - A Collectors Home which does the same thing, adds an area that is linked to all the player homes that can be teleported to from any of them (or any inn in a city that doesn't have a home in it it, like Winderhold.) the portal takes the form of a shield, hanging on the wall in the home (or inn) you will need to buy a house first to get access to the place as you need a key to unlock the portals. (The home portals unlock with the home key, the portals to the inns require keys that can be found in the gallery in a strong box so you need to buy at least one home and enter the gallery to get the keys for the inn portals) Some may find the Dovakiin hideouts to be more impressive but I prefer the simplicity and the display space of the Gallery. Another home you might be be interested in (though one that isn't connected to another homes) if your just looking for a small home with a lot of space to display a collection then I think you might also like Stags Rest. It's a cozy one room cabin with a sizable armory in the basement. It does has a few issues, for one followers can't follow you inside (There seems to be some small, invisible obstruction just in front of the door that prevents them from going in but you shouldn't have any problems.) It's uncertain if the follower problem will be fixed since the author hasn't updated the mod in a while but I believe it works quiet well. If your interested in a home for followers to stay in (I know you didn't say you were but just in case you are) I'd also recommend Candle Pond Ranch, it's a medium to large player home by a different mod author that is coincidentally located next door to Stag Rest (It's a great home as well but lacking in display space in my opinion) the two of them blend together pretty seamlessly. Two things to be aware of if you have both installed first you should have Stags Rest below Candle Pond in the load order otherwise you end up with Stags Rest sitting on top of a pond and not on solid ground. Also when Stags Rest and Candle Pond are installed together and Stag Rest is below Candle Pond, you'll notice a few candles just floating in the air around the outside crafting area at Stags Rest, those are from some stuff that Candle Pond adds that stags rest overwrites, if you use them both and don't want those candles floating there you can easily remove them with the disable console command. Yespur
Sjogga: Ypur mod looks amazing but I'm looking for something smaller that doesn't change the game too much or give other advantages. But seriously, great work. ZeroSaber39: Thanks a ton for the long and informative reply! I will look up each mod you are mentioning. Gallery looks like something that would suit me perfectly but Stag's Rest looks great as well. I'll try them both before deciding :) Dovahkiin Hideout looks a bit too "much", I too prefer simplicity and function in my houses.
ZeroSaber39
Glad it helped, I've spent days on end digging through player homes looking for the right home for myself, it can be a time consuming and maddening process, especially if your kind of a perfectionist hoarder like myself and you want everything in the house to just just as you want it. (Sadly it seems my ideal player home has yet to be made) Can't believe I forgot to mention the Dragonborn Manor Redone, which is another home you might like, it's a good, 3 room home (Main Room, Bed Room, Armory) just across the river from Riverwood. It was my home for a time, the Armory is impressive, though I still had some issues with flying manikins (Sometimes I've walk in and find Manikins floating up in the sky, even with the manikin script fix installed). Another problem I had was it was lacking in bookshelves, also the mod won't be worked on anymore. (Because the guy who was doing it isn't around anymore)
Yespur
I've tried them now and unfortunately the Gallery was a bit too "warehouse-y" for my tastes. However I really liked both Stag's Rest and Dragonborn Manor. I'm having some difficulties choosing between them - each of them have their pros and cons. I really like the coziness and the library in Stag's Rest, but its Armory is definitely not as good as the one in Dragonborn Manor. The maker of Stag's Rest has made some strange choices in the Armory - for example, there are almost a hundred dagger cases. I'm not a big fan of that type of display case in general, I'm thinking of changing the Armory in the editor and change the display cases to tables instead. I haven't worked a lot with the editor but I think I can pull that off at least. I might change that giant row of mannequins as well. The Dragonborn Manor looks great but it's a little bit too dark and grand (with all the statues, for example) for my taste, even though I really liked the Armory. Again, thanks a ton for your help! Concerning house mods there's really a jungle out there. I really appreciate the guidance :)
ZeroSaber39
I understand what you mean by the gallery feeling like a warehouse, I agree it doesn't much feel like a place to show off a collection in fact I might be switching over, there was one other mod that completely slipped my mind that I had been looking at before and if your anything like me it might be just what you're looking for. (So hope you check this topic again.) It's a mod that you would normally overlook because the name is kind of weird, the name is This Is 2 Mods In 1 This is yet another mod that adds a basement to Breezehome, it has a large display area and it really does look like a showroom without being excessive. Yespur
Wow, you just keep providing gold :D "2 Mods In 1" was indeed more or less exactly hat I was looking for! I don't really like it having the teleport mod built in though, but hopefully I won't get any conflicts. I loaded it up in the CK and removed the NPCs, the entrance to the cave and almost all of the items the author had placed on shelved and tables. For example I really don't want to have all the dragon claws just sitting on a shelf in the start of the game, I want to find them for myself and place them there ;) Thanks a ton again, if I don't get any ugly conflicts or bugs with this mod I think I have finally found my Skyrim house :) Now it's time to fill it! niceguy
What you need is the Skyrim adventurer tent, place it wherever you want to live, even indoors dungeons and it can be moved when you are tired of a location. Install the companion mods to make containers behave smart and you are all go.¨Combine it with a nice follower AI mods and you can have your team do stuff on their own inside. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/15272/?tab=3&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodimages%2F%3Fuser%3D0%26id%3D15272
serum321
Limbwood Manor may be worth taking a look at. It has a lot of functionality, looks great, and isn't too big.
