Flash_in_the_flesh1
hello. there are plenty of hi-res texture packs but still a LOT of textures remain unmodified, low res and blurry. how do you guys make your hires mods? what tools do i need to improve the quality and size of dds? i hope this is the right section for such question
Syntax1985
Well first of all you need to be comfortable with picture editing programs, like photo shop. once your happy with the program and know exactly how to use it ( will take months ), you can start to try and re-texture things, this guide explains how to do that, http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=82738 ==================================== Hi-res re texturing requires ALOT of practice and talent im afraid. not saying you dont have either, but just stating. My favourite site for learning tips and tricks in photoshop is http://www.good-tutorials.com/ ==================================== Just a note, im pretty new to modding and this is how i do it. there might be a dead simple easy way using certain 3d model programs etc, but honestly i wouldn't know, hopefully if they're is someone else will tell you how. Flash_in_the_flesh1
thanks for reply. i'll gladly google for the details but 'improve increase resolution quality texture dds' and many many other words gave no result. so the basics here- is it about resizing and sharpeninig texture or manually improving by drawing? i'm just interested in remaking texture into hires/high quality/hd. i rather thought its a quick job. there are already thousands improved textures and im not talking about recolors and drawing something new but just taking original texture and making it 2048x2048 or something like that. we can see it in dozens hires mods. looks like mass production. Syntax1985
hmm, i wouldn't really know, i mainly do complete re-textures, but 1 thing is image quality, when u take an image that is 100x100 pixels, and resize it to 150x150 for example, that doesn't improve the quality, it stretches and destroys it. one thing that would come to mind is perhaps somehow they're taking the original "ultra" quality texture, and somehow re-applying it to come out that way in lesser settings? ==================================== Personally, if for example i was going to make a high res version of the sawn off shotgun, i would first of all find a high res detailed wood texture. something like this i can edit the hues etc in photoshop to make it darker etc, what ever "type" of wood i wanted. i would then re-map that over the original handle model. once im happy, i move onto the next part of the gun. Rinse and repeat for the whole model. ===================================== As i said , maybe there is an easy way, but i wouldn't know sorry, i can only offer what knowledge i have.
