Serana/follower bugged all to hell

So right now I don't have any follower mods like aft or ufo but in the past I accidentally had both on at the same time. I probably had some other small follower extension mod on as well but after I got rid of them all I've tried to start a new save file but oddly enough I still cant get serana to do anything at all. My new save files I would level up to start dawnguard but when I get the quest step to talk to the mysterious woman it just gives me the option of "come with me." She doesn't follow me, when I select it she responds like she accepts it, but doesn't do it with no other prompts. I tried other methods where you set your follower count to 0 and then disable her and enable her, that didn't work either. I have no idea of what to do, one other bit of information I noticed when my mods load up, it will say that your follower cannot accompany you here. If anyone has any way to help or just give me a way to fix this I would greatly appreciate it please and thank you.

Your Skyrim version is horribly out-of-date. I don't even know how that's possible, given that Steam automatically downloads the latest version. I'd imagine that has a lot to do with your problem.

I don't know either because I modded this for my brother and he doesn't remember when he first downloaded. I don't think he used steam, so I'm guessing I'll have to just delete it and start from scratch. I just wish I didn't waste so much time getting so much to work for him before I realized how out of date it was. I mainly just wanted to see if there was any fix for such an old version before I bought him a new version to try again from the beginning. It isn't a big deal if there isn't a fix for it, I just figured it was worth a try since there normally is a fix for almost everything when it comes to this game.
