Graewolph
Ann mccaffrey wrote a series of books "Dragon riders of Pern" One of the characters (mennoly) who later became a master harper (bard) had a pet Fire - lizard. W/maigret's latest work on her new companion imp, this got me to thinking again if this was a possibility as her imp behaves very much as the fire - lizards do - they run away AND they purr as well. My blender skills are atrocious and I've been attempting this ever since I started modding for morrowind/oblivion.From part of my note to Maigrets: "Also wanted to add one last thing, as far as Idea wise... I've been waiting for this over the last few years. I stink @ blender and such but have been learning scripting and (small) texture tweaks. The Idea? Ann McCaffrey wrote a series of books (Dragon riders of Pern series) in one of the books (the dolphins of pern) There is a "Harper" named Menolly who has a pet (kinda like this imp as far as it's actions) but it's NOT an imp. It's a fire - lizard (they resemble dragons but very tiny and cute!) here's a google link to picks http://images.google.com/images?um=1&h...rn+fire+lizards They acompany bards (harpers) and keep them company (THEY PURR TOO!) but are not fighters like their cousins the bigger dragons. I floated this idea a ways back and may YET again resurface this idea in forums. Maybe slof or someone could come up with a body texture/mesh or something I've wished I could but Blender scrambles my brain LOL. I'm not as good as the youngsters around here. Finding a fire-lizard in your pet shop would be interesting (you have to "impress" the dragons in order them to follow you for life) they'd be fun for mage characters"end quoteLink to google pics: Fire lizards on googleFire Lizard pic I'd do it myself but I can't- but wanted to float the Idea out there again thanx for reading
ihateregisteringeverywhere
Hawin' fun with an imp is simple, realy. However a fire lizard... Well it's not THAT hard if you know how to do it, but it means modelin, texturing, UV-mapping, creating a skeleton, rigging, animating idles, attacking, powerattacking, casting, moving running, turning for both moving and running, strafing, strafe running, jumping...... While modelers are rare. Good modelers are even rare-er - and People that have the time, skill AND will to create a brand new creature complete with animations and everything? Don't even ask. I mean.. yeah, could be a realy cute'n'fun pet. It could even have a few animated idles that would let it let out a few puffs of smoke or fire. But hell, you're just asking for soooooooo much work. Ever noticed that most games only have a few types of creatures? Guess why.
Graewolph
:) Thanx! I know this is asking for alot (workwise) I just wanted to float the balloon again. If I could have done this myself I already would have... Actually this silly idea got me into modding in the first place! All I can do is blame Ann McCaffrey :P
exanimis
I think you could use the pet imp script and attach it to the Akatosh Mount By Saiden Storm. You could resize it in the CS and I think that would give you a great place to start. I could model a new dragon in blender but I don't know enough about the skeletons, collision or animations to do much good at the moment. I don't think you'd have any trouble finding someone to re texture an Akatosh for you though.
Graewolph
Tru but I did'nt want to steal Saiden's stuff.... But overall I believe I may be closer to the goal!
