Creating mods for Special Edition vs. Oldrim

I've noticed some people advising to make mods for the original Skyrim instead of Special Edition, and I was just curious if there's a reason why? I figured Special Edition would be easier to develop on given the improvements made to the engine, but maybe I'm wrong. Is there a significant difference between the two? If you develop a mod for one, is it easy to port over to the other?

Old advice from the early days when SSE didn't have a lot of the popular tools and extensions released. I suggest modding for SE over Oldrim now.

Yes, aside from mod conflict issues I have crashed once out of my 117 hours of play time so far and that was do to bad save file.

depends on the mod but mostly yes it is easy.
