making models change appearance with activator need help plz.

Hi there,

i am currently working on a stargate mod for new Vegas and i need a bit of help with it. basically i have two models of the Stargate one active and one inactive. what i need to do is have a button activator which changes the gates state from inactive to active. so what i am asking is if there is anyone who knows how i could pull off this effect. the way i figure it is best to make this is to have an option to click on the gate, in game which in turn changes the model file for the active gate version so it appears the stargate has been opened. i know this can be done as in game the plants use a similar effect when you pick fruits and seeds and the tree models change. it also works in the lucky 38 when you can add things to your room and they spawn such as the nuka vending machines. if anyone knows how to do this it would be a major help.

In this case you wouldn't be changing the model, it would be "onactivate playforward" so your active model would have a stop state and a forward state. Some example animations I can think of are Mr. House's life support chamber, the bomber and vertibirds at hoover dam and in FO3 all the vault doors and the VR pod in Tranquility Lane.

so how would i go about doing this if at all? could you refer me to a tutorial or give me some kind of help as to where i would look to begin
