ninjaking
Hi there. So the first version of Oblivion I played was on PS3 and I absolutely fell in love with the game. As it was the perfect medieval fantasy game I always wanted to play. And it inspired me to upgrade my computer to get it on my PC. For years I've still been playing Oblivion with PC to the thanks of Mods. However one thing I loved about the PC was just the way the polish was on the graphics. Since it came out later than the PC version in my opinion just had a greater level of refinement. Particularly with the use of Dark Shadows in the PS3 version and just giving a more ambient feel. Whereas the PC version just feels more "computerized". Does anyone else feel the same? If so, would you know any MODs that emulate the look and feel of the Playstation 3 version of Oblivion? bben46
Not sure what graphics card your PC has, but the graphics on mine are far superior to the 720p graphics usually seen on a PS3. Your monitor can also limit the screen resolution. Especially if you are using the monitor that came with a inexpensive packaged deal PC or a TV more than a few years old. I use a pair of 21 inch 1680x1050 monitors, (now considered mid range) - but only one is used when gaming. (I am also hooked to a 52 inch TV, but for single user, the monitors are usually fine) Always use the native monitor resolution for best results when gaming. When are the game makers going to move into the new century and include multiple monitor and 64 bit support for games? :whistling:
ninjaking
Thanks for your reply. I have NVIDIA GTX 260 which I bought 3 years ago. Even though i'm sure there are some more modern cards out there. To date, no game I've played runs slow the Ultra settings and looks great with other games. I get 1920x1080 resolution on my PC. And the resolution is certainly a nice factor on the PC version as mentioned. The main thing is how the PS3 has more use of shadows which I like. Which I think gives it a great magical aura to it. It maybe just a personal preference. But I just feel it add so much to the gameplay for me and makes it more immersive to me. Hi there. Hickory
The main thing is how the PS3 has more use of shadows which I like. No, it doesn't actually, it has less. Much less. The PC version is showing you far more detail, including shadow detail, which is what you are confusing with "shadow" effects of the PS3. The PS3 omits so many graphic details compared to the PC that it 'looks' more shadowy. To achieve what you are suggesting, you would need to dumb down your Oblivion graphic experience. There are mods out there that can give you a darker experience, especially in dungeons etc. One that comes to mind is called 'Cava Obscura'. There are also mods like 'Weather - All Natural', which is configurable via an .ini file -- you can have 80 percent darker nights, for one example. If you're really adventurous, you could delve into OBGE -- that never plays well with my video drivers, however.
