osterac
I am at about level 10 in my current playthrough of FNV, and this time I decided to go sniper. I just got a sniper rifle and put a silencer on it. The cowboy repeater, however, seems to be twice as accurate in VATS. This does not make sense to me. I have tried disabling all my mods and nothing changed. Is this just part of the game? Does the silencer decrease accuracy? I can't seem to find any weapon that is more accurate than the cowboy repeater, come to think of it. What is going on?

osterac
What's your guns skiil? And strength? Sorry, should have included that. Strength is 6. Gun skill is 53.
Xaranth
Sniper Rifle has a guns requirement of 75, the Cowboy Repeater 25. With a skill of 53, you will be seeing significant accuracy loss with the SR. Also, I THINK weapon condition is factored into the accuracy calculation as well, so if your SR is falling apart and your CR is like new, there will be another boost in favor of the CR. Does it say that somewhere, or are you just expected to know somehow? Huh... Anything better than the cowboy repeater that doesn't need 75 in guns (for mid to long range)? <div><br></div><div>Edit: I see it now. There is an icon that looks like ammo that says 75.</div> Edited January 13, 2013 by osterac
Xaranth
Your pip boy should show you a little icon next to weapons with a number next to it: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/images/5597757-1358100950.png Three little bullets means Guns, and the number is the skill requirement. Explosives is a little bomb, E.Weapons a lightning bolt, Unarmed a fist, and I can't remember what melee is. They correspond with the HotKey icons, though.
