ouch I get the same unigine scores as you exactly hoof, and my card was $230 more :wallbash: Even my overclock gets the same score as your OC score.. Strange.

 

Thor your scores made me freak out until I remembered you had two cards hehe

 

Oh well, everytime nvidia releases new drivers I seem to have to find the sweet spot OC for my video card again, back to tweaking..

 

On a sidenote.. Unigine crashes on my overclocks all the time now, could be the drivers timing out, but the weird thing is it always says it is something in unigine not my drivers.

Thor buddy. you need to stop trying to convince yourself you have the best CPU on the market. it is no better then and in synthetic benchmark probably worse then my 3570k. unless yours is OCed, because atm, mine isnt.

 

also the CPU does almost nothing for these synthetic GPU tests.

 

and Maybe down the road, but considering i JUST got this GPU the other day, i am far from considering Crossfire. IF i do it will be several months down the road, possibly another year, in which case i may just buy two new GPUs instead of another 7950. but we will see haha.

It can go as far as 5.2ghz if i wanted to, the thing about amd they are always unlocked and oc able. i did notice a huge stability increase sense upgrading to the 8350. the cpu does matter to a point, especially system requirements for games. Some even require a fx chip. six or eight cores. or a I7.

As I have said in other posts, there is no such thing as a true eight core on the market for desktops. Unless you count the 3930X. And you can't really because the CPU die has been laser etched to remove the last two CPU's.

 

And Hoof is right, GPU tests do almost nothing for the CPU. And also, 5.2ghz is a bit high, just because one person was able to achieve that doesn't mean you will, it is called the "silicon lottery" for a reason.

I actually saw a diagram of the die, it actual is eight cores, you have to actually see it for yourself to judge.

well considering its my thread, idc about off topic haha.

 

and yours isnt Watercooled, it has a Closed Loop System, not as good as water. and especially not on a single Rad. and not as thin as it is.

 

4.3Ghz is no where near 5.2Ghz. temps will skyrocket after a certain point before you even reach that....wasnt that 5.2 mark reached with liquid nitrogen or some form of sub zero cooling?, either way you wont reach that with an H80, and not even an H100. if someone did reach that without sub zero cooling, you are looking at like a 60mm thick 120x3mm rad or something haha.

Thor... That isn't eight cores.. Please.. Those are integer cores. One CPU is split into TWO CPU's. This isn't new, its AMD's design, that intel I should add has and calls "hyperthreading." You can keep saying it is an eight core, but that won't make it true. :armscrossed:

 

I mean, ask yourself this. If it is a true eightcore as they say, how come each CPU shares an L2 cache with another? Why not have one for each? Sure they would need a bigger die but it would be much more efficient and it would effectively double the L2 cache size.

 

This is the exact same design for almost every intel hyperthreaded chip. One core split sharing some form of cache. Does this mean an i7 quad core is actually an eight core?
