Im a noob and I want to try to mod some stuff

Ok so I want to make an Ancient Dai Katana thats basically a daedric claymore in damage and durability but with the same weight/speed/reach as the Dai Katana.

 

Second I want to make the Draconian Madstone more of like my Charrs personal lost ammy. His name is Drac and is a Vamp. So I want it to make it like a Ammy made for a Vampire but with some negative side effects to balance it out so its not uber powerfull...

 

Im not sure where to start and if someone could point me to a guide to change the things I want to put in there that would be great!

Sure Ill help. I'm not the best at explaining stuff so please bare with me.

 

Im presuming you have basic understanding of where the buttons are and what the windows do for the construction set, if not; please do say.

OK, first open up the construction set. Go to open, and open up olbivion.esm in the tick boxes and then click ok letting it load up all the oblivion files. Once you have done this, you need to go to the window that displays items/models and similar. Go to Weapons, pressing the plus sign to expand it out, and search for the weapon. Im not sure what it will come under, but the weapon will probabaly have an id similar to: "weapdaikatana". Once you have found it (sorry Im on the wrong computer to be able to open up the construction set myself and find out the name) then double click on that weapon name and a box should appear with the name of the weapon, the basic picture, and also all the statistics.

 

The first thing to do when this is open is to change the ID of the weapon (2nd box down out of the 3, 1st box you will not need for this, 3rd only changes thr name in the game and displays in your inventory with that name). So you change the 2nd box which is called ID or similar to a unique name something like "00weapspecial" . So long as it is unique it is fine. Then p[ress OK, and it ill ask if you would like to create a new form. Press "yes" or "ok" or whatever it is and you will have duplicated the dai katana for your own use. Find your version of the Dai Katana and edit all the stats as you like, and you can also change the name of the weapon (3rd box down) so it displays as what you want in the game.

 

Remember, it is best to change the editor ID first as I said, so then you don't accidentally change the stats for all the dai katans found in the game. You can do this with any item.

For the other thing you would like to do, you will need to make an enchantment, as well as do the same thing as above but to the draconian madstone. (enchantments are found under "magic" I believe, and you can right click over any of the enchantments and click new to make your own. You can then apply this to any weapon or piece of clothing quite simply. This is done from the menu where you double clicked on the item of your choice (like when you clicked on the "weapdaikatana". There is an option on this same box for any clothing or jewelry or weapon that is called: "enchantment", then find your made enchantment here and press ok.

actually I just downloaded it.... :biggrin: Anyway I think my self as a little tech savy soo I did all that made my wep the way I wanted it, and changed the made stone to how I wanted it...just one Q...how do I get my new Dai Katana? I only replaced the mad stone so I just have to do the quest and keep it/steal it from her.
