Megaton Crash

So, I have this problem where if i use any door that loads a new area in megaton, the game closes to desktop. I can fast travel into megaton, but when I tried to enter the water treatment plant, same crash to desktop.

 

This crash seems to only happen when I use a door in Megaton. I tried out all the other nearby structures, they all work fine.

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong.

Remove those first as they are NOT part of the game and test.

Let me know what happens.

That's an alternate startup MOD <--- You need to start somewhere and this is good enough.

If the game is installed in "Program Files", the Windows User Account Control will prevent any changes to be made to any file installed there.

 

FOSE, FSR, UUFO3P, etc. will be blocked and the game will usually crash.

 

Did you first start the game from the launcher before you added mods?

 

You do not need GFWL disable with FOSE.

 

If you have a mod manager you do not need the program version of Archive Invalidation. But then again, if the game is in Program Files, it doesn't work anyway.

So i disabled the mini hideout mod: MiniHideout v13 Easy

And i stopped having the problem. I still have the game freeze up occasionally when i'm using VATS, but Megaton is accessable again.

never use the items I crossed out and never have issues with fallout 3, no freezing or stutters and , I will never rly on a networked arranged modding theme.

I use for this 11 year old game Fomm and a version / Legacy version of mod organizer 3.1.1 --which is no longer online.

 

I can't say much for the mod your talking about because I use the Original version. But I can test it if you like?

fallout 3 GOTY is a simple game .it's not complicated. users make it complicated. I can run this little game on an Android tablet with no issues.

All these extra things people made are to accommodate other 3rd party tools for scripting and fight GAMES FOR Windows Live anti cheat mechanism's.

they were not around during release of the game. Stutters are caused by bad graphics drives and install locations. Speed of the machine's capability to process this old game.

 

So I 'll install the "easy" version and test it without the FOSE requirements, all that is for is a couple of scripts for Hidi's use, that's all. Other wise it's not needed.

Ok, I tested the mod on a pristine game setup, It runs clean, no issues what's so ever. NO bugs, No stuttering, No crashes. Every door operates cleanly.

Smooth operating.

So, your issue is the methods used and software.

Lay out exactly where the game is installed at.

1. Steam Game ?
2. GOG game ?

Do you run any 3rd party antivirus programs?

It's all important.

 

Best way is to reinstall the game and make the installer / Steam OR GOG Galaxy install the game to the root of c:\ AKA C:\fallout 3 or Games\Fallout 3 in the editing windows of said programs.

You DO NOT want it installed in C:\Program Files And Folders (x86).

you may need to start a fresh game too.

I also need to know system / hardware specs.

 

The worst offending antivirus program is MacAfee. That requires their own uninstaller from their web site.

I need to know the OS / Operating system you're using as well. All of this is important.

 

When I see anything show up after an install ? I remove the entire program and choose a different spot or method to re-install the game.

Don't forget, you already have established Registry entries that might also be trying to call up things in the game that are no longer there.

I'll try uninstalling fallout and reinstalling to C:/
