kickedsaz
well i got a bunch of mods and they seem to be working correctly since the game doesnt crash on launch. they also actually work.however once or twice during an hour the game crashes. considering the explorational nature of the game it is damn annoying, because sometimes i lose progress.what would be the best way to figure out what crashes my game?if something was crashing the game on launch it would be much easier. random crash once an hour is just not something that would be easy. ripple
Start by posting your load order/mod list so we can help diagnose the problem. http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/583662-important-load-order-and-you/ Open your plugins.txt in a text editor. plugins.txt is found in your local application data folder. On Windows Vista/7, this is C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Skyrim\plugins.txt. Also list any mod you installed which didn't come with an esp. ripple
1) You need to sort your load order using BOSS. Check the BOSS log to see if there are any esp's that needs cleaning (using TES5Edit) or any mod that BOSS does not recognize which needs to be manually arranged in the load order. 2) You are using a number of 'give more stuff to NPCs' mods (e.g. Immersive Armor, Immersive Weapons, Bandoliers--although it doesn't look like you use the NPC distribution plugin for it). They make conflicting edits to leveled lists and you will need to use Wrye Bash to generate a Bashed Patch in order for all of the gears to show up on random NPCs (rather than just those from one mod). 3) This isn't a big mod list (compared to most posted by people requesting assistance), so if you just do the above things, and keep the mod list this small, your game should be fairly stable. MShoap13
In addition to Ripple's suggestions, I'll add that MoonPath to Elswyr is known to cause CTDs and issues all over Skyrim and it's generally suggested to only use it while you're playing it's content. Open Cities affects a very large number of things in and around the cities it affects and crashes in specific locations may be caused by a conflict between it and another mod (probably not your issue right now, just something to keep in mind). And finally, WarZones is a very RAM intensive mod and is known to cause lockups and CTDs. These issues become more prevalent the longer you play (due to Skyrim's memory leak) and the larger your load order gets (right now it's pretty modest). You should take steps to ensure Skyrim has as much RAM as possible available to it. You can try out ATTK Skyrim Power Loader and see if that helps. Alternatively you can download and install/configure Process Lasso and Game Booster to handle most of what ATTK can do. Both of these options basically close out as many unnecessary background processes as possible, raise the CPU and I/O priority of Skyrim, clean/defrag the System RAM, and ATTK even comes with custom memory allocations. If you need help with Process Lasso or GameBooster, post back here and I'll do my best. Questions and comments regarding ATTK should go in the comments section of that mod (there's quite a helpful community surrounding it).
Jason2112
kickedsaz That's a hardcore list you have there ... You will have to do many many tests to get that order right. One mod out of place and it a 1/2 crippled Skyrim. I'd rip them all out but a few of my best and start the testing as I add the rest slowly. If one of then mod don't get along with an other it will mess everything up. I was wondering too if you use the console to PCB every so often. That really save me a lot as building a Skyrim save is like building a card house. Edited January 18, 2013 by Jason2112
bben46
First, before optimizing the game, optimize the system and Video - Not every crash is actually the game or mods.http://s1.zetaboards.com/bbenlibrary/topic/4751769/1/#new
