A simple mod that adds a first person mode to the werewolf like in morrowind. thanks : )

If it'd be "simple" It would have been done already.

I support this. I'm actually rather surprised that someone hasn't made something like this already, it seems like a no brainer. That, and a stealth mode for werewolves.

Here we go again.

"I'm actually rather surprised that someone hasn't made something like this already"

And proper response is:

Feel free to do it yourself then.

(Yes. I did use comic sans. )

My guess is that it isn't too easy to make it work properly. Never tried it myself though.

Werewolf has the 3rd person camera position by default, because it is playable, however, I don't know how the first person camera is detected. Like, is it using the same camera "slot" as third person camera or so.

It might be also because to make it "real" first person, there would need to be first person animations for arms, animation for movement (camera goes lower than normally, bobbing etc.), enabling the third person toggle etc. etc.

Probably someone really skilled could do "fake" first person. Camera so close to head that it's like first person. (Just like in gothic 3)

But the real problem is probably the first person animations. Werewolf moves quite alot, to make the first person legit it'd need tons of work. Possibly it's hardcoded into game and can't be edited.

If I had the skills necessary to make this mod myself, I wouldn't be up on the mod request forum asking for it.

I have no doubt it would be difficult to do, but I doubt it's not possible. After all someone managed to make a first person horse riding mod, and most of the issues you mentioned would have needed to be dealt with in order for that to have worked, though it hasn't been updated for a while: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10122

First person horse riding doesn't require any first person animations.

It looks like it's simply enabling the first/third person toggle.

Also:

"NOTICE - 6/1/12 - the newest patch (1.6) makes this mod completely unusable. A workaround has not yet been discovered."

Patch that added horse combat? Soo, it would require first person animations as well and that's causing issues now. :armscrossed:

"If I had the skills necessary to make this mod myself, I wouldn't be up on the mod request forum asking for it."

Point was, don't use the "I'm actually rather surprised that someone hasn't made something like this already"- sentence if you don't have skills to do it yourself.

It doesn't make sense to say you're surprised about it if you can't even make it yourself. (+ it pisses me and other modders off. We know the difficulty of making things like that)

But aye.

Couple of ways for this request. Either "Real" first person, or "Fake" one.

Fake one would be probably easier and achievable.. somehow.

Camera would need to be either moved or somehow manipulated so that it allows the zoom into it's place/ really close to it. (Which is somewhere in/near the head of the werewolf if I correctly remember)

Also, I am not sure, but if one zooms enough characters own body and arms disappear. This can cause problems with this "fake" first person. (I'm not fully sure if this happens, I've got just faint memory image of this happening)

Also, as this idea has not been used with werewolf/horseriding/vampire lord yet.. I take it it's not possible.

Real first person would require complete set of animations. (There's different animations for third and first person for "normal" playable races)

However, I don't know if it's possible to assign the said animations to it, allow first person to be toggled on and off and taking care of all minor things and problems that happen.

I believe that the both ways would have their difficulties.

Also, sorry for being such a grumpy santa

I really love this idea. Very immersive and very fun. It would be quite difficult to create though, but the modding community has some serious talent. There is this mod called Real First Person View or The Joy Of Perspective or something which allows you to see your character's body and all that stuff, so it is possible that something like this could be created, with a lot of effort. I wonder why Bethesda didn't include this in vanilla Skyrim.

"I wonder why Bethesda didn't include this in vanilla Skyrim."

Truth is, werewolf form would be ridiculously hard with first person.

1. You can't see if you really fit through that doorway

2. You can't see the enemies that are readying their bows on that ledge just above you/behind you/ on your side

3. Movement would be extra jumpy, really hard to "navigate", especially while sprinting. (Or otherwise people would be like "y u no so immersive, y u no bob when u jump liek dat")

Of course, it would be "realistic" or "immersive" in first person, but even I can't think of playing werewolf in first person, even though I ALWAYS play in first person, no matter what my character type is.

But aye, I'm not sure how Joy of perspective etc. allowed the "real" first person, but it could be possible to do it somehow with werewolf as well.

Yeah, would have been very hard, considering that this has been down already 10 or maybe there is 20 years ago already. AVP or where did I had the last time the 1st person vision on a beast? Maybe the programmers would have more to work on but I bet it would not take them at the studio more than a few days to implement it. As this is not about the difficulty I suspect that when we talk about "why Bethesda didn't" this remains on the long list of "what if"... -regarding the upper statement.
