Making a Timer work whilst the player is not around?

I am now currently past my previous issue by ways of workaround. I have a new thing I'd like to ask though.

 

I have successfully made a timer on an object which triggers when you activate it, you get an item from the object, the timer is then set and you must wait.

The idea is that players should go off about their other business and return to these objects later on to get more of the item however, the object must be rendered for the timer to tick.

 

I doubt there is a way to get this to work where the timer still ticks despite the players absence, but I'm welcoming suggestions after all. Thanks in advance.
