mancjedi
Hi guys, I'm having this crippling problem with Fallout 3 right now. When I level up, I choose a perk and the game freezes. 100% of the time. This happens when leveling naturally or when using the advlevel script command. I think a mod might be the problem but I have no idea which. Here is my load order: [X] Fallout3.esm[X] BrokenSteel.esm[X] ThePitt.esm[X] PointLookout.esm[X] CRAFT.esm[X] CALIBR.esm[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.esp[X] Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.esp[X] FOOK2 - Main.ESM[X] FOOK2 - [DIK] DLC Improvement Kit.ESM[X] FOOK2 - Main.esp[X] FOOK2 - [DIK] DLC Improvement Kit.esp[X] FOOK2 - DIK Level Up Fix 1.3.esp[X] FOOK2 - Main Level Up Fix 1.3.esp[X] Project Beauty HD Version.esm[ ] Project Beauty.esm[X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esm[X] Project Beauty- Broken Steel.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Project Beauty.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Broken Steel.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Point Lookout.esp[X] Project Beauty- Point Lookout.esp[X] Anchorage.esm[X] Zeta.esm[X] eyes_hairpack_en.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esm[X] StreetLights.esm[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - FWE Master Release + DLCs.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - FWE Master Release + Project Beauty.esp[X] Fellout-pipboylight.esp[X] UPP - Pack 1.esp[X] UPP - Pack 2.esp[X] UPP - Experience Perks.esp[X] UPP - Quest Perks.esp[X] UndergroundHideout.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Main File.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Anchorage.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Broken Steel.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Mothership Zeta.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC Point Lookout.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - DLC The Pitt.esp[ ] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Alternate Travel.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Optional Restore Tracers (automatics only).esp[X] WeaponModKits.esp[X] RH_IRONSIGHTS.esm[X] RH_IronSights_Basic_AnchoragePlugin.esp[X] RH_IronSights_Basic_BrokenSteelPlugin.esp[X] RH_IronSights_Basic_PittPlugin.esp[X] RH_IronSights_Basic_PointLookoutPlugin.esp[X] RH_IronSights_Basic_VanillaPlugin.esp[X] RH_IronSights_Basic_ZetaPlugin.esp[X] RH_IronSights_Pitt_NewRifleSights.esp[X] RH_IronSights_PL_NewItems.esp[X] RH_IronSights_RemoveReticule.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Anchorage.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC The Pitt.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Master Menu Module.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - DLC Zeta.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Natural Selection.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Tougher Traders.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - Zones Respawn.esp[X] Mart's Mutant Mod - FWE Master Release.esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Project Beauty (Followers Enhanced).esp[X] FO3 Wanderers Edition - Project Beauty.esp[X] Fellout-Anchorage.esp[X] Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp[X] Fellout-PointLookout.esp[X] Fellout-Zeta.esp[X] Spartan Ranch.esp[X] DIM TYPE3clothesRETAIL.esp[X] Josef Greys Kozaburo Hair Style for Fallout 3.esp[X] VB_Hair_Vanilla.esp[X] Malos_BodyResize.esp[X] OutFits.esp[X] T3_MadLax_Outfit.esp[ ] clovernewlook.esp[X] DriveableMotorCycle.esp[X] The Groovatron.esp[X] SShop.esm[X] SShopItems.esp Keep in mind that I am a complete noob with stuff like this; if there is something wrong with the load order, I wouldn't know about it. I've also tried several fixes and experimented with switching off certain mods, but nothing seems to work. I've scoured Google and some of the forum posts here, but I can't seem to find a fix. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys.

mancjedi
What version of FOOK2 is that? It's FOOK2 v1-2 Open Beta.
blove
Pick FOOK2 or FWE, but not both, and start a new game.
mancjedi
Pick FOOK2 or FWE, but not both, and start a new game. This works if I disable FOOK2, but not FWE. While it's awesome the game works now with FOOK2 disabled, I'm kinda gutted as I prefer the changes FOOK2 makes to the game. Is there any other method of rectifying this? blove
I have never seen a case of level up freeze with FOOK2 where the save did not contain pre-FOOK2 1.2OB data. That said, you are missing the FOOK2 1.2OB hotfixes which could be the issue, or it could be FWE, or it could be MMM. In any case you would need to start a new game. If you have to have FOOK2 *and* FWE, then I can only suggest you try My Utility World - MUW - v3 by freddy_farnsworth.
BlackRampage
Regardless of whether you choose FWE or FOOK2 or whatever, seriously consider using some load order sorting tool such as BOSS to sort your load order. At the moment it's quite a mess. DLC's sitting right in the middle of plugin files (.esp's), other master files (.esm's) sitting right in the middle of plugin files, et cetera... Edit: And considering how you are indeed a complete n00b at this, I'd suggest reading/watching some Fo3-specific modding tutorials before installing a crapload of mods. on youtube, for example are a must to watch especially if you're new to all this. I guess I got carried away with all those mods, but hell, "collecting" mods is fairly addictive.
VanCardboardbox
Hope there is some value in this too-late-to-the-party post, but I was just experiencing the same problem with crashes on perk selection in level up. Hopefully someone finding this post while googling the problem can be helped out. I tried unloading all mods. I tried going back to older saves and playing through. The problem relentlessly persisted, mods or no mods, ancient or recent save. The solution, finally, was to add the old Unofficial Fallout 3 Patches to my load order (http://fallout3.nexusmods.com/mods/3808/?). I do not know why this worked, or what it addressed, but I was able to pass through the level-up and continue my game. I had been running the last version of Remastered to appear on the Nexus, but maybe I'll stick with these patches. Hopefully this can help someone out.
