amborgeson
Is there any way to readily identify script files that are no longer used by any active mods, and delete them? I have a crap load of .psc and .pex files and am 99% certain that a lot of them are mods from my pre-NMM modding, and I want them to go away with out wiping everything and restarting. steve40
Nope. The simplest thing to do would be to wipe the script folders and then reinstall all mods that you are currently using.Ideally, never use any mods that have loose files, with the exception of SKSE and interface mods where that can't be avoided. ripple
Hm....there is nothing wrong with 'loose files' per se. A mod can bundle scripts into a BSA and you wouldn't know it unless you were using a BSA browser (and there are so many mods out there that compress a couple of textures into a BSA when it's just completely unnecessary). It's more important to use some sort of mod manager to handle the un/installation of mods. The Mod Organizer would nix this 'my data folder is cluttered with crap' problem since it does not install mod contents directly into the game data folder. steve40
@ripple: I disagree, but I'm not going to debate the matter here.
ripple
Ok....but can you at least tell me what you disagree with? I can think of some good reasons to bundle loose files into BSA but I can't think of a good reason for every single mod to bundle loose files into BSA's, especially replacers that are intended to override resources embedded in the default game BSA's. I'd like to think that you weren't suggesting that... Edited January 21, 2013 by ripple
