when I try to place it in game via 3d geck terrain browser, it says it couldn't do it because it wasn't a fade node.

I'll check again so I can post the exact stuff to be more specific.

edit:

well here is one:

that is when I first select it as the model.

that is when I try to place it into a map.

If you do this, don't release the mod. Making direct ports into Fallout 3 from any game (including Oblivion) is not allowed by Bethesda. If you made the models yourself however, it'd be allowed since it's your work BASED off of the originals.

You know, all he has to do is to edit the model so it has a slightly different structure, then its "based" off of the original.

In fact, I'm going to get to work porting all of the Steel weapons from Oblivion right now.

It's not me you gotta convince, it's the good moderators and admins here at TesNexus. Oh, and just so you know, I can't take the little Lucky Charms leprechaun, erase one line, change his clothes from green to blue and then make a trademark out of it cause it's different. Same concept.

We'll see. In theory, if I upload a mod in which the exact same model from Oblivion is included, but change the texture so it seems to be something different, then it isnt the same.

Or, in your opinion, it is the same.

The point being that no one will know any better. XD

do you know how to do it? please share

As soon as I'm finished porting a single weapon, I'll apply the same technique to every weapon. If that works, I'll post it.

I dont want to be bombed by post after post of "It crashes, wtf? How to fix?" :)

A possible problem, the current .nif exporter for blender does not support collision data for Fallout 3 (although the IMPORTER does, it's all quite odd) you need to use Nifskope to reapply the collision from whatever weapon you want in the game. If you already did that, well, good for you, disregard this.

Well, I managed to get user-created weapons for Oblivion working in Fallout 3, after some hefty trial and error. I ended up having to use Nifskope to copy/paste over the tristripsdata from the weapon I wanted onto a working FO3 nif (in my case, the baseball bat). I've yet to fine tune the collision data, but I've got the models and textures working at least. I did have problems at first with the textures working in GECK but not in-game, but I was able to fiddle with it and get it working.

Here's a test with bonebrew22's Buster Sword (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2608)

just to make that clear....

any public release for fallout 3 with content from another game than fallout 3 istelf is illegal!

if you modify it or not doesnt matter u still use the base from another developer who payed an outrightous sum to get his stuff copyrighted...

same goes for other peoples mods if not stated differently

you can be lucky if you just get banned from this site and not sued by whoevers content you stole...

and to make it even clearer this is not my opinion but a fact... you also signed the eula and thus agreed not to break any copyights and thus you could end up with even two law suits against you...

supporting other people to do so is organized crime or at least subsidy

---------------------------------

collision can be exported yet... see my sticky tutorial's appendix on that topic
