EnigManic
Apparently, your followers can get into trouble by themselves. (I'm not using any follower mods like UFO.) I was wandering around Riften with Jordis doing those little fetch quests. Afterward, I made a trip to Morthal then headed to Iverstead to get Wylandriah's spoon. Somewhere along the way, Jordis disappeared. I couldn't remember if I had told her to wait somewhere so I began retracing my steps to find her. No luck. I went to Proudspire in case she went home. Still no sign of her. So I opened up the console and used the player.moveto command to teleport directly to her... She was in a cell in the Whiterun jail! And stranger still, there was a dead bandit on the floor beside her! Has this happened to anyone else?
Rooker75
That was probably just a glitch. She probably got separated fighting that bandit while you left the cell and the game put her in the wrong place after. I have had followers mysteriously go hostile on neutral NPCs, but I'm pretty sure they can't be arrested.

billyro
That would be really cool if it was a feature. Funny co-incidence then. :)
