Niborino9409
I want to be able to switch between Heavy and Light armor, but when I´ve tried doing that it does not work. I ended up being almost one-shotted by the Bandits at Valtheim Towers. The light armor got really bad even though it was the strongest one available at my level. I play on Apprentice I think, but I have no intention to lower the difficulty. For the time being I have stopped trying to use both and focus more on Light. Is it even possible to use both sucessfully? What I mean by "both": Being able to use only light armor one time and heavy the next. Not mixing them. MidbossVyers
So basically, you want to use "medium armor", huh?
Niborino9409
No, I want to be able to use one of them at a time. But when I have tried doing so, there is always a drawback. It´s like I get weaker. Edited January 22, 2013 by Niborino9409
Ragicka
I think it is possible to alternate between the two types. Ideally you would start from the very beginning when the opposition is still relatively weak. One day light, the other day heavy and try to match the skill levels for both. You would also need to devote equal time and resources for upgrades at the forge. And you would need to spend an equal number of perks if you can afford to do that. If you need to catch up with light armor, you could buff it with potions, enchantments and alteration spells to tide you over. Spend some gold on a trainer and seek out weaker enemies to practice on till you're caught up with heavy armor. I did something similar with a level 60 character and a heavy armor skill of 20. It didn't take long to bring it up to 100. Still took a bit more damage compared to light, but my 100 level offense skills made up for that. Niborino9409
I have the opposite, I have a hard time with Heavy Armor. Suppose I cannot do as I have done so far; play the way I want to. I´ll see what happens. But I suppose l´ll need to plan ahead as you hqave suggested. jack013
You just need to get more armour rating. Use some enchants, potions, add a few perks, all that good stuff.

Zalman1337
It's definitely possible if you have high 100 Smithing, Enchanting and Alchemy as well as all the relevant perks. Without cheats, exlpoits or glitches, you can enchant 4 items with 29% Fortify Smithing and you can make 130% Fortify Smithing Potions. With all that, it's possible to improve your light armor to the point where it's equally effective as heavy armor. You might have to put a few points into Agile Defender (or Custom Fit/Matching Set) if you want to reach the armor cap of 567. 1 point of Agile Defender with Custom Fit/Matching Set and 1 point of Juggernaut with Well Fitted/Matching Set can help greatly in improving your Armor Rating early on if you wear full sets of Light or Heavy Armor. I do not use Enchanting nor Alchemy  And potions feel so worthless since they are just temporary. But doing it the old and hard way should work too! :woot: Perhaps with an uncap mod...
