Assign daily activities and movements to custom NPCs

I need help working with CreationKit to assign daily routines and activities to a custom follower NPC, some help/tutorial would be great! :)

 

I know it has something to do with the AI - Packages tab in the actor's object menu, basically, I want this NPC to visit one of the glyphs/shrines/tablet thingies on the path to High Hrothgar every day, and come to the Ivarstead Inn at night and sleep.

 

There's another NPC who has the same routine in the vanilla game, I think he's "hhpilgrim01'' or something, I looked at his AI - packages and tried to implement the same for my custom NPC, it sort of works but I want him to meditate/pray at one of the other tablets higher up the path (preferably the one which has a Talos statue right at the entrance of High Horthgar.

 

Some help would be great guys! If you know how to make this happen, please post! Any kind help will do! :rolleyes:

Well for the actual praying animation, you'd link the NPC to a prayer Idle Marker I'd imagine. That's all I've got to offer really. AI packages are still something I'm pretty inexperienced with. :sweat:

See, if I mimic the exact contents of the ''hhpilgrim01'' AI - Package, my custom NPC does actually use the praying idle (like Hiemskr) its kind of funny actually as both these NPCs sort of take turns praying at the same shrine :happy:

 

 

but the only problem is, I wan't him to do it at the LAST shrine on the way to High Hrothgar, the one with the Talos statue. I have something in mind about this custom character, If I am successfully able to make this work,

 

1. - he'd go up to High Hrothgar everyday to prey to the Talos Statue

2. - he's also a recruit able follower, so when you're done with him and tell him to leave he's gonna go back to prey at the Talos Statue

3. - at night time he's going to go back down the steps and sleep at the Vilemyr Inn

 

Pretty interesting, huh!? :turned:

I am going to assume that the AI package that has him praying is using a linked ref? If so, just change the ref to the shrine you want him to use. Open up the AI package and look for the line that directs him where to go and double click it. It should bring up a narrow box that has choices on how the travel is done... just click on linked ref and then "select reference in cell view" (I think that is what it says, but you get the idea) and select the shrine... done!

 

For the sleep package, this depends on where you have him placed in the editor. If he is IN the inn then you could probably use a default sleep at editor package. You would have to change the ownership of a bed to him since most of the beds have an ownership associated to the inn. Alternatively, you can add a bed in a room (though this will cause it to conflict with mods that alter the interiors of inns) and link him to it and do a sleep package that uses the linkref.

Done! Thanks everyone :D

 

I duplicated the ''hhpilgrim01'' AI-Packages and tweaked them a little, placed them in the custom NPC's packages and voila!

 

- He goes to the Talos shrine at the entrance of High Hrothgar (at 5am!) to prey

- prays till 7am and walks back down to Vilemyr Inn

- hangs out and sleeps at the Inn till 12.00 am, then leaves to make the pilgrimage again :D

- playtested him and all is fine!
