Skating bears

Um... okay. So I'm using Skyrim Monster Mod 10d and some creatures, mostly bears, but some other creatures added by SkyMoMod.esm are frozen in the standing pose. They can z rotate and move around and attack me, but they are permanently in standing pose. I search the problem on google and it showed a post that said that this was a bug with SkyMoMod and ASIS. But the topic could not be found.

Is this true, caused by using SkyMoMod and ASIS together causes this bug? And is there a known fix, or do I need to just *bear* with it?

I can't confirm it as I haven't had it myself, but I believe I have seen the glitch you are talking about in some of Gophers "Let's play" videos. I remember he uninstalled several mods trying to solve the issue. The only thing is he did remove ASIS but that was for other reasons. Looking back though, I don't remember seeing the issue much after that.

Not much help I know, but it is a problem others have seen. Start with ASIS and see if the issue goes away. Remember to uninstall it properly with a clean save.

Thanks for responding!

After looking for more answers, it seems that this happens both with Skyrim Monster Mod and Automatic Variants. The problem is the game engine that somehow corrupts spawn points and causes these creatures to skate. The solution is to start a new game with whichever is / are the offending mod / s, and stick with the mod without clean saving. I copied my current character, used setav for the skills, added souls to be converted later to perks, and adjusted my level. Everything is in order, no more skating creatures.

Also, thanks for pointing me to Gopher, I'll look her up and see what she says. So if you started a game with either Skyrim Monster Mod or Automatic Variants or both, do not clean save to update it if possible. Or you just might get skating creatures with no fix other than to start a new game.

First off, Gopher is a guy lol.

Secondly, I am glad you found a fix, but I would be willing to bet there is another way around it that doesn't involve a new game. Gopher fixed the issue without a new game, but like I said earlier, I am not sure exactly what mods were installed and then uninstalled to fix it. Glad to hear you fixed it though.

Skating animals/enemies is caused when a mod adds enemies directly to the vanilla leveled lists. This confuses the game engine and spawns are generated with a 't-shaped' frozen mesh and they skate around. The only way to get around this issue is to delete the offending mod and start a new game.

I know this is an old topic, but I recently ran across this issue where bears and trolls stood and skated around in the T-pose. At this time, other monsters and NPCs seem unaffected. I have several dozen mods installed, but none of them affected the game until recently. I had only updated a few of the mods in the past month or so, and started my troubleshooting there. I found that "Warzones - Civil Unrest 2015" appeared to be the culprit, as it was the only one that changed any animations or spawn points in the game that I updated recently (I only added or updated 4 mods in the past month). After uninstalling the mod and launching the game and the affected saves, the problem disappeared. reinstalling the mod again after that and the problem... at least temporarily... has gone away.

Hope this helps anyone else that might see the problem in the future (whether it is this mod or another, the solution may be the same).
