To fix Dawnguard attacking on sight

For anyone who has the problem of the Dawnguard attacking you on sight without provocation:

After spending a while researching this I couldn't find a fix that worked for me, so I did some searching in the Creation Kit. It is not the Dawnguard faction id we need, but the Dawnguard Hunter faction.

The following command will set the Dawnguard Hunter faction members (02003375) to be friendly towards the player (db1).

1. Open the console (press the "~" key left of the number "1" key and below "Esc")

2. Type the following: setally db1 02003375 1 1

Hope that helps someone.

Having this problem, and I feel as though I've attempted every possible fix if anyone tried pointing one out. I've done exactly as you have said, I always get the No parameter faction, Compiled script not saved!

And I have no idea why, I have even typed "help dawnguard" looked for fact, used my own which is "04010EC1", still odesn't work, I've tried;

Nothing means I got the Parameters error bulls*** and the Compile script not saved.

player.addtofaction 02003375 1 (Nothing)

addfac 02003375 1 (Nothing)

addfac 04010EC1 (Nothing)

setally db1 02003375 1 1 (Nothing)

setally db1 04010EC1 1 (Nothing)

only one that hasn't caused the error is- player.addtofaction 04010EC1 1 and that caused nothing to happen either, they are still hostile, even though it has no trouble entering in Console command.

Additional Info: I am using my first created game ever (175 hours), I have fnished the Dawnguard DLC originally, became a Vampire, decided I didn't like it, cured myself, became a Werewolf again, (Took a couple monthgs break from Skyrim, came back) found out Dawnguard troops attacking me, thought "Hmmm, I wanna join these guys actually", found 'http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22279/?' and the Instructions are as follow-

Use:

1a. Extract text to temporary location

1b. Copy text below into a notepad file

2. Place/save file in Skyrim data folder

3. Finish the Bloodlines quest and be somewhere in the Bloodstone Chalice quest

4. open console and type bat changesides (or the name you gave it)

5. quest related messages will appear

6. You are now on the dawnguard faction quest instead of the vampire and should be associated with them(dawngauard)

This runs the following commands:

completequest DLC1VampireBaseintro

set DLC1IntroCompletedVampire to 0

set DLC1PlayingVampireLine to 0

resetquest DLC1vq02

setstage DLC1VQ02 190

setstage DLC1VQ02 200

completequest DLC1vq02

setstage DLC1HunterBaseIntro 20

This then Completes Bloodline and sets me up with "A new order".

I have recently found out with deeper research that this was meatn for people to use when they were half way through Dawnguard or wanting to swap over half way through (NOT having already completed which is where I misunderstood)

The Author of the .txt file bat command stated in a response to someone- "OK wow, I missed responding to that so he may not even need it but for others:

If you complete the vampire quest line first, I would imagine there is a global variable that let's the other characters know you did it. I have no idea what it is since i didn't do the vampire side at all but I imagine it is something like DLC1vampiresidecomplete since Bethesda likes to keep the names simple. If someone wants to run the ShowGlobalVars and sort through all that mess to find out it would only take changing that back to 0 to allow you to run both sides in one save.

My file was meant to let you out part of the way through, and then only at a certain point. It becomes harder to do the more variables you have to change and I never meant for you to be able to play through both sides entirely with one character(though I can see why that would be appealing)."

Key sentence- "My file was meant to let you out part of the way through, and then only at a certain point. It becomes harder to do the more variables you have to change and I never meant for you to be able to play through both sides entirely with one character(though I can see why that would be appealing".

If there are any mods or anything that allows me to ally with this Faction by force, that would be great. People have also suggested that you can Disable Dawnguard, load save, save, enable dawnguard, load save and it fix's/resets the Dawnguard DLC HOWEVER when I tried disabling Dawnguard and launching Skyrim I Crash (Which is understandable, and which is why I am confused how others can do it..).

Please, if anyone can help, let me know!

Thank you.

You would also have to make sure you disable anything and everything else you have that relies on Dawnguard. What likely was happening was that some other mod required dawnguard installed, and since it wasn't.. crash city.

Ok so, made progress, and pretty much removed every mod from my game just to be sure, and it allowed me to launch up the game and load a save, but when I got to create a new save, the game crashes, and there's no save.

f*#@ f*#@ f*#@ f*#@ f*#@, I was soo excited that I could finally get it going again...

Figured out a semi-fix.

I've come to the conclusion that if you have already finished the Dawnguard DLC and chose the path of the Vampires, and cured your Vampirism (Because you don't enjoy being a Vampire) on the original save, the console commands will have zero affect on Isran during "A new order".

The semi-fix was that I setstage DLC1HunterBaseIntro 200 which completes "A new order", and gives you the next quest "Prophet", when you return to Fort Dawnguard, Isran is no longer hostile, and he takes you upstairs to speak with Serena, but the reason why I call this a "Semi-fix" is because Serena is running back to Valkrie (Vampire HQ), and if you travel there to speak with her, EVERYONE except her is hostile towards you, making it literally impossible to speak with her as the majority of the NPCs there cannot be killed by anymeans, except down to their knees resting for 5 seconds.

Spawning her next to you does nothing, but glitches out and some how spawns two of the same NPCs as the quest marker keeps pointing towards Castle Valkrie to speak with her.

I think I'll just keep using these console commands to see how far I can get without similar problems to this one. All I have done to come this far has payed off!

After 5 hours of research over 1 week, I've finally found a solution to stop Isran attacking me!

Victory! ..sort of
