jstLoner
Imagine: you got tired of your old home in Oblivion, and you want to move to a new one. You try several mods that add new homes, but1) You find that those homes don't have enough containers to organize your items the way you want.2) You don't like the position of some of those containers. But then - yay! You finally find a home that somewhat suits your tastes and needs. But then there's the final problem:3) Now you have to move ALL of your neatly organized items from one house to another, and spend quite a lot of time putting them all in their place....4) After a while you decide that this new home is not as good as it seemed at first, so you want to move to a new one. The idea of my mod is to get rid of those problems I mentioned above. It'd be especially useful if you often move from one home to another. You could organize all your loot in those containers and leave them at home. Then, if you decide to move to a new home - you can simply grab those containers and drop them off at your new place. Or even on a balcony, or roof of your house. Anywhere. ----------- I'm seeing this as a mod that provides containers, that are highly customisable in terms of how they look and where they are placed. In other words, the mod should give player those three major features: - a wide choice of different containers (chests, sacks, or maybe even as unusual as books and plants).- ability to place them anywhere inside the house as well as moving containers from one house/location to another, keeping their contents intact.- ability to access them without having to put them in your inventory (and preferably without the use of spells or popup menus). *would be nice to have the ability give those containers any name you want (optional, but would be a nice addition). ----------- Im not a modder, but I imagine it to work something like this:Each container really consists of 2 parts:~ [real container] which is container itself with all of its contents (not visible to player).~ [fake cotainer] which is just a model of a container, that can be moved around, moved between different locations, or locked in place, like in Imperial Furniture mod. Maybe even scaled to different sizes, if someone would want to spend their time scripting this. Meanwhile the [real container] stays intact, since it's a separate object. In order to access [real container], you simply activate the [fake] one (which only serves as a visual appearance and a link to [real container]).To me it seems like a very simple script (but since I dont know anything about oblivion scripts, I can't make it myself). I'm hoping someone would take it upon their shoulders to make this kind of mod. Thanks. :)
alex2avs
http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4703 Try this one. It includes a range of furniture but also candles, weapon racks, chests, carpets, tapestry and much more. It is not an extension of the in-game furniture module designs that place furniture in pre-defined locations, these items can be placed anywhere you want, even on the streets. The items can be used as expected; As far as I know you can't rename the containers
jstLoner
Well, now that I think of it, renaming furniture is not that important at all. It would be useful if you have too many containers, but still, it's not a big deal anyway. I've tried the mod that you've suggested (thanks a lot :) ) and it's very close to what I wanted. Though its major con is that when you lock/unlock the container in its place or put it in your inventory - all of its contents are moved back to your inventory as well, which defeats one the main porposes of my concept (being able to move from one home to another without having to reorganize your containers). AzirAphale001
Midas Migic has a 'Chest' spell that, when cast, opens a container. There is a backpack mod out there, made by someone whose name escapes me at the moment.
myrmaad
Midas Migic has a 'Chest' spell that, when cast, opens a container. There is a backpack mod out there, made by someone whose name escapes me at the moment. Jannix Quinn made one, which is still posted here on nexus. But I use and highly recommend the Cobl Luggage, boosted by Lfact's Luggage for Squatters, and the Luggage Key (silly big Lug and his bad memory, forgot to tell you he had a magic key!) Works with all vanilla houses, inns and the Shivering Isles, plus many mod homes. Life is sweet.
jstLoner
Thanks for sugestions, but unfortunately those mods are still not quite what I have in mind. What I'm talking about are containers primarily to be used at home, not necessarily portable like backpacks. The mods you mentioned are more player-oriented rather than home-oriented and dont provide enough customisation. (if all that makes sense D: ) Im seeing this as a mod that provides containers, that are highly customisable in terms of how they look and where they are placed. In other words, the mod should give player those three major features:- a wide choice from a variety of different containers (chests, sacks, or maybe even as unusual as books and plants)- ability to place them anywhere inside the house as well as moving containers from one house/location to another- ability to access them without having to put them in your inventory So far Imperial Furniture mod is the closest to what I mean. But again, it's main con is the fact that if you decide to change the position of the container - all of its contents are put back in your inventory. It also lacks much variety of containers (mostly only few kinds of desks, chests and lockboxes).Though it seems that this mod is using a pretty complex script that is actually trying to use same object as a movable item and a container. Instead, it could be like this: [real container] which is container itself with all of its contents (not visible to player).[fake cotainer] which is just a model of a container, that can be moved around, moved between different locations, or locked in place, like in Imperial Furniture mod. Meanwhile the real container stays intact since it's a separate object. In order to access real container, you simply activate the fake one (which only serves as a visual appearance and a link to real container). I'll update the main post so that it makes more sense and add some new info.
