How to launch mods through Steam

It depends on your mods. If they do not require a special launcher like SKSE, launching through Steam will have the mods active.

If they do require something like SKSE - you can't launch through Steam.

In either case, Vortex does not need to be running. You can launch either scenario from the game directory.

In fact the script extender games i.e. elder scrolls/fallout can be launched through steam.

After installing **SE there will be a file such as 'nvse_loader' or skse_loader or somesuch in the same folder as your steam launcher file which will be named 'SkyrimSELau cher' or similar for the game in question. Back that file up, and copy the **se_loader file and rename that copy to the *Launcher filename. Now when steam launches the *Launcher file it will be launching the script extender and the script extender doesn't mind what name it has. Whenever steam verifies files or the game is updated you will probably have to do this again.
