fraxanofnexus
Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well. I've been working on a mod to create custom modular roads, which has proved much more difficult than I originally thought. I've just about got everything down, and everything slots together well, and collision works etc, but textures are causing a big problem now. Basically what happens is, everything looks fine, texture all in high detail (well 2k for my purposes), and then I go for a long walk, and when I head back to look at the textures again, they are all blurry and low quality, like they are for an LOD in the distance or something. No matter how long I wait or come back again they don't change back, and just remain in their low quality state until I reload the game again. It's really annoying after all the hard work I've put in, to keep coming across these hurdles. I've created custom LOD's for the worldspace using XLOD, and I'm familiar with that, as it doesn't seem to be the issue. I've also got all my diffuse and normal maps set up correctly, and material editor settings are correct as far as I know. I'm running out of ideas. Any help you could give me would be helpful, as it's destroying my love for being creative with all these bugs or unknowable issues. Zorkaz
Maybe there's an issue with the mipmaps. Do you use GIMP?
fraxanofnexus
Thank you very much for your quick response. Much appreciated. Yes I do use Gimp, and I export as Compression BC1/DXT1 for diffuse texures, and BC3/DX5 for normal maps. I also select Format Default and Generate Mipmaps. What could be the issue with Mipmaps? I can't say I have a great understanding of them, other than it's usually requisite to generate them.
