jkruse05
My general idea for charges was to have the rifle be more of a high power, low ammo weapon (think M1 Garand), while the pistol would have a lot of ammo, but was barely above the laser pistol for damage (think MAC10, although I don't know that I'd make it automatic). I could probably swap out the ammo types without much trouble if it really bothers people though, it'd just be a slight model change on the weapon itself, and swap out the battery models. We'll see what works better when I get a chance to try them in game. On another note, for Crits, my plan was to switch lasers to just dismember, and give these the pile of ash effect, possibly changing the burn effect to a different color. Probably blue with a slight purple tint. I'd really like to do the skeleton, but I'm not much of a coder, and that would be a lot of skeletons to model. youreviltwinSA
Your plan for the Crits sounds perfect! :) I like the sound of the purplish tint, since the old pulse bolt was indeed purplish. You may be interested to see my plans for my very ambitious overhaul of all Fallout 3's energy weapons, a mod named "Energy Weapons are Serious Business". I've got plasma weapons having the same energy capacity as laser weapons but using two units of ammo every shot. And since there is now an excellent recreation of the old Wattz 2000 laser rifle and its extended capacity varient, we can broaden the types of energy weapon in the game and give them to more enemies. :) http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=91865 If you are planning on having the pulse rifle be high power and low ammo, and the pistol be low damage and plentiful ammo... I don't think making the pistol use microfusion cells will help with that, cause I've found TONS of small energy cells. I've also found lots of microfusion cells too, but I'm overflowing in small energy cells. Probably because in most combat situations a laser pistol doesn't really compare well to a combat shotgun or assault rifle, so those small energy cells don't get used up by anything. I actually do like the concept of a pistol that uses microfusion cells. But if there was one, I'd expet its rifle equivalent to use them too. Similarly, I like the concept of a rifle that uses small energy cells, but I'd expect it's pistol equivalent to use them too. If small energy cells were quite rare and microfusion cells were plentiful I'd reckon you had a good idea in terms of game balance, but I've found small energy cells to be pretty plentiful. Personally, I like the idea of both the pulse pistol and pulse rifle using small energy cells, simply because there's a lack of good weapons that use them. jsnider193
Really like the looks of the weapons ... shown. If dropping the pistol for a new version I wish you'd still release what you did. Also if looking for a variant, one I am trying to work out is using the backpack that goes with some of the weapons to be an actual weapon storage unit. I can fake it out but can't get the feed mechanism to the weapon to work. Not a big issue with me, but maybe for a variant on the pulse rifle a pulse MG feed from an ammo store holding a lot of ammo (300-1000 rounds). Just a dream here. jkruse05
I wouldn't worry about the pistol model, it still looks pretty close, just reloads differently. On ammo, my idea was that the rifle was drawing a large amount off of a small battery, so very few, powerful, shots. The Pistol on the other hand would be drawing a small amount of energy from a rather large battery, resulting in a high number of weak shots. Like I said though, I'll wait and see how well it balances once I get them in the game, it won't be too hard to swap out the ammo if I decide to. If it works better the other way I'll change it. jkruse05
Okay, it's been a while. I haven't been able to sit down and work on this for an extended period for a while, but I have the new pistol model nearing completion. It still needs a few minor details and some smoothing fixes, but, well, here you go. http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/5081/pulsepistpu4.pngIt changed more than I was originally planning, matches the rifle more though. jkruse05
I hate to post again, but I just threw all the updated stuff in the original post. Let me know what you think.
Emmine
I love your models, not really very pulse weapon like though. But still awesome work.
