midsidion
Can anyone shed some light on how to get a follower npc to enter a custom made cell with a custom made navmesh? I've done everything down to finalizing meshes and still no success. Any help would be appreciated
FutureVisions
Have u finished the mesh with the interior and exterior cell connected? and if so, is the navmesh triangle below both door references, green?
midsidion
yes I have an entry door and the both the teleportal marker inside and outside have a green triangle underneath them after finalizing the navmesh. wish it had been that simple :/
jaysus
actually it is lol... but sometimes followers are "stuck" inside you after you change a cell, just move a bit then...
midsidion
I've moved throughout the whole cell, I've waited, I've reloaded...no followers. I can move them to me via console and they leave the cell perfectly, just dont enter ever.
jaysus
mmh... maybe redo the outside part infront of your house... i know you said its a green triangle but nevertheless mabye some kind of error snug in...or you have an object blocking the way and they get stuck just an inch away from the door... but apart from that i thought followers get teleported with you wherever they are (unlike in oblivion)? then the navmesh would be irrelevant for a cell change and only affect npcs - but im unsure i just made that up according to game experience
midsidion
thanks for the feed back. I've redone theoutside 10 times now with still no luck. I do wish it was like oblivion where it was easier to get followers to go with you but this navmesh feature they added puts a new spin on that. You have to have green navmesh cells to allow for a cell change for your followers. They allow the AI to know it can move from one cell to another, so either my followers are stupid or there is some simple fix or method to go about making follower friendly entries that alot of people are unaware of. mikekearn
I'm not a big modder, but you could try tearing apart any existing door in the game, and see if you can replicate the process Bethesda used. That might give you some insight as to what is going wrong.
midsidion
There is a post by someone who did just that and what he found was for whatever reason when trying to get a follower to enter a new interior cell with a new navmesh, they wouldnt follow. Not old interior cell to new interior cell or old exterior cell to new interior cell. This was what he putThe variations in meshing i've done are this. This is just to clarify for any developers reading this. Old cell -> new interior cell, the navmesh un-altered, just refinalised. Didnt work.Old cell -> new interior cell, the navmesh altered around my house and door. Finalised, Didnt work.Companions were not able to follow me through the doors, 4 test done, old interior and old exterior. New interior cell -> new interior cell, Navmeshing works perfectly.New interior cell -> old exterior/interior cell, navmeshing and doors work perfectly.Companions were able to follow me through all 3 doors (3 test done) Just tested Old Interior Cell -> Same cell, unalted navmesh, just re-finalised. Semi-workedOld semi exterior cell -> Same cell, unalted mesh, just refinalised, Semi-worked. Paradise falls CC, from outside of eulogy's, to outside of lock and load.Though the companion didn't follow me through the door, they did did run up to me from the locaton of the previous cell. This doesn't seem to be an error, i believe it's an effeciency or coding thing. Why warp when you can run. My last test.Old Interior Cell -> Different old interior cell. Unalted mesh, just refinalised. Worked perfectly. Eulogy's pad - > slaver barracks.Old exterior cell -> different old exterior cell, unalted mesh, just refinalised, worked perfectly. Outside of paradise falls by the mesmatron guy, to tenpenny tower exterior.Old Interior Cell -> Old Exterior Cell, unalted mesh, just refinalised, Worked Perfectly. Eulogy's pad -> tenpenny exterior.. Works both ways.
teddybearman
The exterior -> interior cell thing has been driving me nuts for several days now. I've completely ripped apart my entrance, top level of my mod, put it back together and redone the navmesh more times then I can count and I've only had the exterior -> interior teleport work once, and it seemed to break itself of its own accord when I was working on the interior -> interior cell teleports on the other side of the map, which also aren't working. Here's what I've noticed so far, when leaving my first level interior cell to the exterior cell, followers can follow me just fine. However, followers cannot follow me from the exterior cell to the interior. When I attempt to connect the exterior to the interior, my other teleports in the same cell; the interior -> interior ports that provide access to the other 2 cells, stop working. If I disconnect the exterior-> interior navmesh on the first cell of my mod, the interior -> interior teleports (the elevator) suddenly start working without any need to even refinalize. Unfortunately, this doesn't work the other way around. The other 2 interior cells in my mod have no exterior connections and have never had any problem with their teleport navmeshes. I don't know what else I can do, I've spent countless hours making micro adjustments to the exterior navmesh, I've completely moved my exterior entrance (which caused problems when I tried to undo all the changes I made to the exterior cell navmesh trying to get it to work in the original location), I've completely redone my navmesh from scratch, I've completely redone the first level from scratch, I've copy and pasted it into a new cell, tried placing a door by itself in the middle of the wasteland and using that as a teleport, none of which has worked. And yes, I've finalized it every time, yes there was a pretty green triangle at my teleport marker, I've even tried making the green triangle so large that it completely enveloped the marker, the door, and their little dog too. The triangles do nothing! :wallbash: It's getting to be more than a little frustrating. I've now spent more time fiddling with the navmesh than I have on laying out the level, placing objects, learning how to and then writing the elevator script, and learning how to and then modifying and importing custom textures.
