ivenoname
I have been looking through the GECK and at texture and NIF files all day, and no luck. The texture file used for the Alien blaster and all the Laser weaponry is the same (blank white texture), so it isn't a simple retexture we arew looking at. Looking in the GECK I can't find anywhere in the laser projectle info thing anything that determines color, and I was stumped. Then an idea hit me and I started to laugh my ass off, because it couldn't possibly be that simple. I opened up the alien blaster projectile and the Laser projectile in Nifskope to compare them and sure enough in the section for Alpha and Glossiness (no clue what this is called) the Emmisive color for the Alien blaster projectile is Blue and for the Laser projectile it is Red...go figure. Now where I need help... If this is indeed the cause, I need to know how to change it and make it stay, I tried to change it already but it justr reverts back to being Red. I also need to know if there is anything like an archive invalidation or anything else I need to do for this to work in game. Thank you. P.S. Kind of off topic, but is there any way to make my mods stay checked in the FO3 launcher?

Nox Angelus
Seriously noone can help me with this? I had a problem close to your's, and This is what was suggested to me You need to change the bInvalidateOlderFiles in the FALLOUT.INI-file, wich is located here: My Documents/My Games/Fallout3
ivenoname
I appereciate the suggestion but I have done that already.
jaysus
you dont need the ai.txt as you change no vanilla texture... change the nif and save... dunno what shouldnt work there... except maybe you just changed the 3rd person file but not the 1stperson one... tho im unsure if projectiles even use 2 diff. models and textures like weapons for example... (could be hidden in the geck) about the launcher... you need to change some *.ini or much simpler use FOMM (falloutmodmanager) to start and sort your mods... i just use that now :P(btw fallout keeps your mods checked until you click on data files the next time)
ivenoname
Ok, I wasn't sure if AI was needed when changing meshes, not just textures, thank you. From what I can tell there is only 1 mesh/texture used for both 1st and 3rd person, either way when I go test I test for both and neither seems to make a difference. Whenever I change the emissive color to blue it just reverts back, that and I don't think that is all there is to it even if it did work. I figured it was an ini thing I just didn't know what line I need to edit. Thanks for your help.

noobax
Maybe you need to add dds stuff to your archive invalidation txt? because everytime i download a skin I have to do that
jaysus
you only need the ai.txt if you replace vanilla textures but he created a new gun more or less... and it seems he got it working ;)
