w223jlh
Ok, I need assistance. I have solved most of my crashing issues by installing skyrim clean, then the official patch, then the unofficial patch. However, I have played for almost 50 hours and finally reached Windhelm for the first time as I decided to stop exploring and actually try to complete quests. Windhelm keeps crashing on me, especially if I am traveling east. What is weird is I can travel a substantial distance around Windhelm without crashing, but if I get close in one of the neighboring farms it crashes. I crash, when entering the city, buildings within the city, and fast travel to and from city. I can't even use the wait function in or near city without CTDt. Also, if I save a game within the city or near the city, then my game will CTD all over the map all of a sudden every 10 minutes. It is like my save file becomes corrupted. I have tried everything. I installed skyrim (CLEAN INSTALL, no mods, no patches) and played it up to windhelm, same issue. I installed Skyrim with just official patch (No mods or unofficial patch). Still have issues with Windhelm. I installed Skyrim with official and unofficial patch, still CTD. Then I tried turning off the snow using fw 10e1f2. Still CTD. I tried fixing the 2gb thing, still CTD (FYI: I read where the official patch fixes the 2gb limitation). I even lowered the graphics to low as some suggested and it still CTD's. Please don't say it is my computer or video card. I just ran far-cry 3 utilizing physics and high to ultra high detail with no issues maintaining 60fps consistently with NO CTDs. This is the first game I have ever had so many issues. Thank you to all who reply.
Georgiegril
When you did the clean reinstall, did you manually remove all skyrim related files that Steam leaves behind in its delete local content? Also after installing, did you try the steam verify game files thing to make sure you had a complete, successful install? It sounds to me like you might somehow have files missing. If that is the case the steam verify cache thing should take care of it.
