Crashes on specific locations

Greetings.

I'm asking for help because problem I have is something what I can't solve without reinstalling the game and playing without mods it seems.

What I have is a situation where game crashes on specific locations (tho can vary if reinstalling the mods (and the game?)) and loading freezes if I save the game about 100-200 meters before certain crash 'radius' after I restarting the game.

Current conformed locations are:

- Solitude entrance, coming along the road from the west before or after last Y-crossroad. (seems to be work fine at night. tested once.)

- Right at south / south-east of Fort Greenwall's south wall.

- Exiting Falkreath through easter gate heading towards east along the road, crash happens at X-crossroad (one road is not 'rocky')

Crashes used to happen at before reinstalling:

- At south-easter mountain of Windhelm. Radius was confirmed to be at farmhouses east of Windhelm - road heading south from Windhelm - about 100 meters south-west from Kynesgrove.

If I fast travel to known location where this happens, such as Solitude Stables or use Bat Travel to get at entrance outside of Solitude, there is no crashes or problems whatsoever.

I'm not aware other specific locations where game crashes, but there was some random crashes like when I opened someone's inventory to loot it, when dragon used breath attack..

Oh, and I don't know is it related but if I save and load while on horseback, me and horse start flying like crazy. Unmounting stops flying.

I have tried uninstalling some mods with lots of scripts, model changes etc. Mods I uninstalled and have no avail:

- Better Vampires

- Horsemen

- Horses for Followers

- Cloaks of Skyrim

- and some smaller ones what I don't recall...

Also tried setting all settings to minimum, it didn't help either so I don't think its because of memory. Normally I use High with FXAA, max actor view distance, 16 anisophic filtering, no anti-aliasing setting.

I'm sure you want some specs, here you go:

- Intel Quad Core 3,4 GHz

- 16 GB memory

- 2x Nvidia GeForce GTX 570 in SLI (turning off SLI won't help)

And infamous loading order:

Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

It looks tome, though I could be wrong, that you have a bunch of mods at the end of this list which BOSS did not recognize, and therefor did not place?

If that is true my first thought would be to manually place these with similar mods that BOSS did sort.

Then I would go through and reread all of your mod's description pages, readmes and discussion pages, looking especially to make sure that every mod is compatible with all of your .esms, and major mods like SkyRe, and that you are using the correct version of the mods in question. Also that you correctly used the reprocessor for your armor/weapon mods.

Anyway that's how I would start. Good luck.

As Georgiegril said, you have a lot of mods loading after your compatibility patches (and they should not be), probably because BOSS did not recognize them (which means you have to arrange them in the load order manually, preferably by using TES5Edit to check if they have conflicting records with the other esp's in your load order). Can you post your BOSS log? It will have the load order and also any relevant messages related to the esp's.

wow, I thought I was running a lot of mods

sorting your load order can be tricky, I believe there are articles that explain that better than I can here.

I just thought I'd post to say that CTD are often caused by UDR's left over in mods

have you cleaned your mods?

This is the cleaning tool

TES5Edit

this video gives step by step instructions on cleaning

EDIT - oops sorry Ripple, gotta learn to read the whole thread before posting

The mods looked like they've been cleaned according to the BOSS log (and I assume you handled the error messages regarding that sorting mod which needs an updated fix patch by downloading and installing it).

You do have a lot of mods....but from what I can tell, most of them seem to be mods adding custom gears and items and gameplay tweaks, and shouldn't be taxing your system stability-wise. But the problem is that you have many mods not recognized by BOSS, and you've been letting them load at the bottom of your load order, after your compatibility patches, and that's probably wreaking havoc on your game. Because you do have a lot of mods, that also means you have a lot of mods not recognized by BOSS.

The only reliable way to address this is to check each esp in TES5Edit and see if they contain records that conflict with the other esp's in your load order, then determine where they should load depending on which conflicting record you'd like to 'win.' You can then use the 'BOSS Userlist Manager' to set custom rules for esp's not recognized by BOSS, so their load position won't get reset everytime you run BOSS. After you arranged the unrecognized esp's, rebuild your compatibility patches.

Okay I randomly sorted those unrecognized mods at top-half portion of the loading list.

Also replaced normal version of Better Sortings with compatibility version from here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26230

Something did happen, because now I get CTDs instead of crashes, or freezings at those certain crash locations. And one location seems to be fixed, by the Fort Greenwall. Was able to test only once before I had to go to work but I give more thorough testing when I get home.

If you are going to randomly plop them in the load order, you might as well let them load at the end of the load order, because both methods of sorting mods not recognized by BOSS have an equal chance of improving the stability of your load order....

You have *a lot* of mods. This is probably not going to be 'easy.' I recommend you take the time to check out the records, post some screenshot if you just can't wrap your head around how to identify 'true conflicts.' Many veteran mod users abound and always willing to help those who are willing to learn. You can also uninstall a few and keep the ones you just can't play without, thereby reducing the number of unrecognized esp you have to 'analyze.'

None of this is guaranteed to get rid of immediate CTD issues (because it's possible the damage to your save game ha already been done). But it will ensure the long term stability of your game.

CTDs are crashes. But getting rid of one CTD hotspot is an improvement.
