Sherlyone
Im currently running 100+ mods and kept updating them for a while, but now I have annoying issues & bugs caused by them including ridiculous frame drops & spikes, so what I want to know is, If I re-install Skyrim & load the last save game that I had, will it work as if no mods where installed, or will the same bugs exist because it is the same save game that contained the mods? IsharaMeradin
Both. When you load the save it will state that objects are missing and if you say yes then your game will use only the currently active plugins. However, because your save does have a lot of mod related stuff stored inside chances are that some of it will cause further issues down the road. Some of the issues may go away, some new issues may arise. Really it all depends and no one can say for 100% certainty how things will react with your game. MartG66
It's very unlikely your old saves will be playable, any mods you had that ran scripts will leave stuff in your savegames. There will be references to missing objects, chances are the save will be a lot more unstable with those mods removed. You can get away with starting a save then adding mods but removing them tends to cause problems, especially if they ran scripts and didn't have a built in unistall / stop scripts feature. kennymcg1995
What they said. ^ Your best bet would be to just start a new game with whatever mods you want to use. If you're completely set on using your old saves, do your best to follow through with the exact Uninstall instructions from the original authors of each mod. If you're just dropping retexture or item mods, you should be fine, but any overhaul mods that use scripts will cause issues unless you uninstall them exactly as the mod author instructs. Even then, that may simply lower your chances of getting issues, not eliminate problems.

But is there no way of cleaning these scripts from the save game with any of the tools used for modding? I also wanted to know if it is save to use "remove identical to masters errors" option in TES5edit on dawnguard/ hearthfire and update.esm Edited January 29, 2013 by Sherlyone

I also wanted to know if it is save to use "remove identical to masters errors" option in TES5edit on dawnguard/ hearthfire and update.esm unfortunately no, there isn't any way to remove the references to script or missing objects in save files. yes, It is safe to use TES5Edit to remove identical to master errors in dawnguard, hearthfire and update.esm. it's highly recommended to undelete and disable references too. there's a step by step guide here:
