etennyson
I'd like to see a version of this where you can send your kid off to learn to become a fighter, wizard etc.. Pay the tuition cost and they disappear from the game for x time and then come back fully grown and outfitted as an x with the ability to be a companion. However, the mod would have to account for time since game time is 1 hour per minute it would have to be a lot faster. Adoptable kids in Skyrim are roughtly 10-13 years old. Making them grown to say 18 would be 5 years game time or 76 24 hour days real time. Too long so it would have to be half or less. They would one day come back to the house and there they are fully grown and ready to join you in your quests.
terrorofskyrim
why not do this a la the sims style. just wait a couple of months (3 something) and bammo you've got yourself a new companion. i also think your kid should be a teen, but that does indeed require some voice-over work. but if you pick 5 voices for a boy and 5 for a girl i think you would already come far. (just like in vanilla you have also 4 or 5 different voices for npc's and maybe other's for non human races)
Kuerva
well really i would like to be able to train the kids to fight and have them follow you around teach them to use spells or archery or swordplay depending upon your own combat style that alone seems like you could make it more realistic so when the kids are grown they have the training and skill to fightso they could be a strong follower, perhaps with a realistic drawback, better fighting skills lower carrying capacity due to smaller size, as they level up with you that could be used as a way to make them grow up and eventually become a grown follower who will call you father/mother so when a child reaches level 25 they could turn into a teenager when they reach level 45 they become an adult or something along those lines

terrorofskyrim
maybe it shouldn't be so realistically as you might think. What if you could somehow get in possession of a "get older spell" or a kind of story driven mod that requires your child to go to another plane of time where time runs faster then here, then when he comes back he would be older (teen, adult, something like that). this could fix the reality issue and it is (maybe) still lore-friendly to the game
dbphreakdb
well, ultimately, it would seem to be lore friendly. The time speeding up thing that is. There is a dragon shout that slows time, and the elder scroll from the main quest allows for a form of time travel. So, what you could do, is at the college, you create a repeatable quest that relies upon you selling the library the elder scroll from the main quest. Then, you give them the following ingredients Dragon's Bone (Since dragons are the ones that have the shout)Giant's Toe (You want the kid to grow, right?)One of each of the basic potions (health, stam, magicka) Now, after that, i would imagine you could use commands to remove the old actor, put in a new one, and the new one have follower options. Thinking about this, i am gonna get started on it to see if it can be done.
SaBeRtHeSkIlLeD
This would be a great mod, It'd most likely take a lot of time and scripting, but It'd be awesome to have, and maybe have a few small quests and a little bit of drama between the character and the child. I'm behind this.
JustChill01
I think I'm over a month late to reply to this topic, but this is a pretty awesome idea. There is a mod out already called "Growing Up in Skyrim" that does this to a point. It grows children. However, I'm not sure how it works if you don't have RS Children Overhaul? Probably better? Children NPCs grow strange off texture faces and are suddenly orphaned all around Skyrim when they grow, besides the basic Hearthfires orphans of course (who were already orphaned). The mod works pretty well for player characters, using RS Children Overhaul. If an experienced modder would step in and help work out the minor bugs for Growing Up in Skyrim, then I suppose they could apply the changes to a new mod for Hearthfires adopted children. With RSCO, my adopted girls are pretty and with Dovakinder Collection Replacer - Royal Child, they (obviously) look like royalty. So I suppose for teenage races, a modder experienced with beautification could make them beautiful. Eventually as my character is around level 80 and becomes the elderly race, I would like my daughters to be full grown and moved into any of my many random homes with husbands of their own. To make NPCs move into places, I use the mod "My Home is Your Home". I'd suggest to make teenagers, male and female, and adults beautiful, to use the Inhabitants of Skyrim race presets mod.
