Jiggalopuff
Hai Guyz, I bought Skyim a month ago, thinking that any game that stays 60 bucks for more than a year must be worth playing. I played through it once(which took 100+ hours), Instead of playing through a second time, I decided to revisit my childhood and play the pokemon games(I was 13 when red and Blue came out). In many ways, I found myself using more critical thinking than I did while playing Skyrim, despite the fact that one franchise is targeting the elementary school demographic, and the other is about catching animals and forcing them to fight(lol, see what I did there?). In Skyrim, I pretty much killed everything with fire. In Pokemon, I made many decisions, such as whether to have Bayleef or Suicune, or which pokemon to teach flash to. What do you guys think? AliasTheory
Pokemon's metagame has evolved greatly since the first few games. My roommate here in college is big into all that, and he could tell you all about it. But anyway -- no, it's not odd. It's still a great game series with plenty of depth and playability, but it's just a lot of the same, frankly. (Visit Bulbapedia, it's full of good stuff.) I dropped the series at about the third generation (Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald), which I also managed to max out the in-game timer on. Maybe just about a year ago, I got around to the fourth generation on an emulator, however I did not play for nearly as much time. The new Pokemon X and Y AFAIK are trying to mix things up a bit while giving balance as far as the new starting Pokemon go; they are all dual elemental and there's a reverse element wheel going on in addition to the classical grass, water and fire. (Though one of the Pokemon is dark, which is completely immune to psychic, not just weak against it. That's an even greater advantage.) I'm personally just not ready to sink all my free time into an RPG game of any kind, but hey, maybe I'll try out the latest installment of the series soon. Lanceor
It's absolutely normal... we tend to like things that we grew up with. Marketers know that as well, so expect some ultra-expensive "collectors edtion" Pokemon toys to come out over the next two decades. I have 40-something year old friends who collect Gundam and Macross toys (these series were popular in the early 80's). I also have 30-something year old friends collecting "Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac" toys (the series was popular in the early 90's). In ten years time, you may have a shelf full of high-quality, exquisitely detailed Pokemon toys and models. :)
repabuse
Well, I'm not 27, but I think it's normal.
Jiggalopuff
The Strange thing about it is that I feel as though I use more of my brain when playing Pokemon than Skyrim. For example, I need different pokemon to explore different parts of the world. For example, I need a pokemon that uses waterfall to get past an obstacle, which means that I need a water pokemon. I then need a pokemon that is strong against psychic pokemon for when I get to the next gym. IN Skyrim, all I really did was use one of three things,a bow, and a fireball. SSGB21
I still play Pokémon and I see nothing wrong with it. I used to get laughed at in school for this, but that has mostly died down because people are used to me being a complete nerd. When I was younger, I played it because it was fun, it had cool 'mons (and I think it still does personally) and because all my friends played it. I now play it for the stats, the strategy, the fact that it has cool 'mons and (possibly most importantly) because it is fun.
rattlemebones
I would nae call it weird ( seeing how I play it masel and all that jazz lol) but Pocket Monsters has deviated from Red, Blue, and Green ( bet you did nae know the last one existed) gameplay ( which mainly consisted of battling other monsters and finding things in poke balls rofl) to x and y apparently (when the $&@@? did my algebra school work get involved with pocket monsters) now gameplay consists of talking to every other guy just hoping that they would battle and hope the pay you a poke dollar. Not just battling for pure stats. I just wish pocket monsters would go back to it's roots. I remember when you had to get out a $20 cable just to trade Pokémon (sorry Pocket Monsters is just too long at times), now you can you Internet to trade Pokemon half way across the world. Now my wall of text is over. P.S. don't forget missingno.
zombierelic
I recall reading some where that the main demographic of pokemon was 23+. But hey, as long as its fun who cares last I checked "fun" didn't have a age limit.
