cumbrianlad
Hello. I've just spent ages trying to work out why the forearm part of my gauntlet mesh disappeared when loading a saved game. Saving and reloading that save without exiting the game restored the complete gauntlets mesh. It turned out that I'd marked the biped objects as hands and forearms on the armour form, instead of just hands. The armour addon was also marked as hands and forearms. I just did that in the mistaken belief that since the gauntlets covered hands and forearms both should be selected. Doh! Making the armour form biped objects 'hands' only cured it. Thing is I don't know why. Can someone explain why the biped objects are often different on the armour forms to the biped objects on the armour addon? Looking at various pairs of forms, there seems to be neither rhyme nor reason to how it's done. There must be... just that I cant work it out. Hanaisse
ArmorAddon record - identifies parts where the armor coversArmor record - identifies the slot that will be blocked from anything else trying to use it This article may be useful and includes the relationship to the nifs as well. cumbrianlad
Magnifico! What an excellent link! I've bookmarked it. The only bit I didn't like was that I can't examine the partitions properly in SSE nifs. I did try to do that. Now I know I was peeing against the wind! I suppose I could just open the equivalent Oldrim nif to do this, though? I extracted both Oldrim and SSE BSA files. I use Oldrim nifs so that I can edit x, y and z axes, when scaling. Thanks a million for that, Hanaisse! It explains everything about the problem I experienced, including how to specify only the partitions that ought to be blocked in the armour record. In the case of the gauntlets, the hands. Since the cuirasse nif does not show hands, that has to be blocked. Perfect! Thanks again.
Hanaisse
That's correct, and a fault of NifSkope, that you can't visually see the partitions on BSTriShapes (SE nifs) but yes, looking at the equivalent LE nif should be the same partitions.
