Deseoso
I have used many mods but have only in the most basic ways actually attempted any mods myself so I have no idea if this is even possible but it would be really cool if there was someone with the technical knowledge to pull this off. The goal of the mod I would like to see would be to separate the pipboy from the rest of the game while still allowing it to function alongside the game. I play my game on my PC but I also use an ASUS Transformer tablet. I would love to be able to plug my tablet into my PC and have it function as a pipboy while I am playing the game. That way you could do things such as have the map running showing your location as you travel from place to place. My tablet runs on Android so I am not sure if this is even remotely possible. My suggestion may be the equivalent of asking for a way for my companions to actually climb out of the computer screen and into my room, I don't know. Alternatively, I use two monitors on my PC but one is unusable while I am playing Fallout NV. Would it be possible to create a mod that allows a person to run the game on one screen and a permanently opened pipboy on the other screen? You could then have hotkeys setup to switch between different screens of the pipboy. Actually, you could just have one hotkey that you push to change the function of the mouse. That way you can have your permanently opened pipboy on one screen while you run around the wastes on the other. When you need to access the pipboy you just push one button and then moving the mouse will move a cursor around the other screen and will not affect anything on the primary game screen. I think my idea is rather ambitious but then I saw how far mods have come what with now actually being able to drive cars around the wasteland and it makes me think, maybe anything is possible. Anyone? Is this idea pure fantasy or could it be possible?
Xaranth
I tend to think this is not possible without reverse-engineering the API (or getting an API from somewhere). What you're talking about would have to be a seperate programme that talks to NV and gets a bunch of data from it. Now, I haven't much delved into the guts of menus and FNV Plugins, so it may be possible to write an export/import plugin for FNV, or even to pass certain menu displays off to a secondary display device, but you're talking about an incredible amount of work. Possible? Sure. Just about ANYTHING is possible. Probable? ...I'd say not.
