AnnekkeFan187
So, I started playing Skyrim again after looking at some cool mods. Now my saves wont load. After messing with the .ini, disabling all my mods, and then validating the game cache, I uninstalled and reinstalled. That didn't work. So, I tried making a new game, but when I quicksaved, and quickloaded the game crashed. I re-opened Skyrim and tried to load my new save wouldn't work. So, I can't load a new save. PLEASE HELP. gamefever
Modded games have trouble loading fresh in large open spaces. Saves in 1st person in small player dwellings without other actors are good places to make saves and load from. Work aroundYour 1st load should be from a save that has been done in a small cell space. example Alternate start live another lifeIt starts the player in a 10 by 10 room with nothing in it, it makes for a GREAT 1st load,Then you load the save you really wanted. At some point ppl are going to have to realize they overloaded their game, dont expect to rescue open world saves...But this will still work some of the time. Georgiegril
It sounds to me like you may have originally had a corrupt save, and then when you tried to fix it, you ended up with orphaned scripts. At this point, I would recommend that you would ultimately spend less time completely uninstalling everything---game files and everything else that the steam delete local content misses (like savegames, mod files, etc), completely shut down/restart your computer to clear your cache, and then reinstall skyrim. Start a new game with no mods. Do not use any old files at all--no old mods, no save games, no altered .ini files. Start completely vanilla until after Helgen, then slowly reintroduce one or two completely new mod files (read each mod's installation instructions, readmes, discussion page, every last word the author provides and follow all instructions to the letter. download again from the nexus, not reusing old ones you saved on your computer somewhere). After every couple of new downloads, run BOSS and play for a bit to make sure it works. Same thing if you make other changes with your .ini or driver software. As soon as a problem arises, then investigate the last couple of mods or other changes. However, with careful and judicious mod use, you may find that you don't experience problems. Good luck! Georgiegril
What save are you talking about? Are you saving a brand new installation of Skyrim with no old material at all--no mods, no dlc, no ini files, nothing, just Skyrim after completely erasing all of the old and reinstalling the new from Steam? If that is the case, then it seems to me there are only a couple of options. Once is that you simply do not have enough space in your hard drive to store a save. Have you tried basic computer upkeep-- file clean-up, dfrag, etc?Alternately, is there any possibility that you are trying to save to a non-existant location, or one your game does not recognize (like a different hard drive, etc.)?Or, perhaps, for some reason you have a corrupt download of the vanilla game. Have you tried verifying your game files through steam? Finally my only other guess would be that somehow, despite your best efforts, some fragment of the old game remains, and that is causing the problem. After that, I'm currently out of ideas. I hope if these don't help you someone will! Sorry!

Before I re-installed I deleted the Skyrim folder in my steam directory and deleted the Skyrim saves in my documents (after backing them up in a totally new directory). Whenever I validate my game cache, it says that one file failed to validate and will reacquire it. If I validate again it still says one file failed to validate. I assume it's the .ini because of the short download time and the fact that it auto detects my computer on start-up.
Supermatt5546
I've been having issues myself trying to load the first autosave at the beginning of the game.
