Ylurien
I am getting some major delays in combat. For example, when a Draugr Lord shouts at me, the shout itself (the force that comes at you) is not emitted until about 6-8 seconds later. Also, when I kill something, the sound they make when they die and the on-screen visuals for the final hit are usually delayed by a few seconds. I have vsync on and have made only a very few tweaks to my .ini (such as changing the FOV, fSunUpdateThreshold=10.0, etc.). Can anyone imagine what the issue might be here? Edit: Nevermind. I think I figured it out: it was the SkyRe_combat.esp that is part of the Skyrim Redone mod. Edited February 1, 2013 by Ylurien
Georgiegril
Wow..@ OP: Actually, SkyRe comat does slow down response time during combat, especially in the beginning. I agree your assessment may be correct, However, my experience has been that the effect is really only felt at the lowest levels, or if you try using an armor or weapon class you have no experience in (like my archer trying to pick up a greatsword and swing it). I found it a little disconcerting when I first started using SkyRe, but I did get used to it, and eventually I was grateful--the payoff is my current character is at level 84, and just now am I starting to feel bored with the combat. A couple of the effects you mention are things I have not experienced with Skyre...espcially the delay in incoming shouts or sounds. That sounds to me like it might be worth investigating some other causes, especially you find that you have gotten to level 20 or 30 with skyrim, and it is still really slow. Forcing off Vsync (read here how) and limiting your fps might result in smoother gameplay. Also, if you were overloading your RAM, you would see slow loads and probably texture pop-in, however, you might see if temporarily turning your graphics down all the way removes the problem--if it does, then you may need to make some changes in your graphics settings or mods. Background processes can also slow down your game, so you could check that by simply disabling everything in the background that isn't essential, especially browsers, auto updates and background/scheduled scans. Sometimes lags can be caused by incorrect load order, so you might want to read the load order and you thread, if you have not. Looks like you are new to the boards, so welcome. Generally speaking, it can really help people help you if you post your mods list and game specs.Cheers!
