Simplistics
I can max everything holding 120 FPS but there are two options that kill my frame rates in towns . Actor Fade and Object fade . Turning those two options to 0 stops the game from stuttering and keeps my FPS solid . Turning 50% the FPS stay around 70-120 and 100% 60-120 . my setup GTX 680 SLI i7 3770 overclocked 4.4 Asrock E4 OCZ 850w Asus 3D ready monitor 27"Sniper ram 8GBSSD Crucial M4 - Used for 2 years now . If you have any tips to stabilize the FPS please hit me up .
Georgiegril
The human eye cannot detect framrates much past 30 fps, which is where consoles have the fps set. Movies and tv are set even lower. You could cap your framerate at 59 (60 causes problems for some nvidia drivers, forget which) and then you wouldn't have to worry about the fade settings, probably. Especially since setting them to zero means that you are looking at enemies suddenly appearing in front of you.

Just like Some can't go back to 1080p after using 1600p . Once you 'feel' the diffidence at 120 frames going back to 60 frames 'feels' scratchy and losses fluidity . Thing is I can get 120-160 FPS outside of towns so lowering settings just for towns may be my only options . In fact it would be a nice little mod where the settings are locked for each individual town .
Georgiegril
Well, if you are attached to your fps rate, I wonder if you are using any mods that affect lighting? If they are changing the in-town lighting, things like torches, etc, you may see about changing those in order to maintain your frames. Just a thought. No only mods using right now is night sky mod and water mod . I believe the game itself is the bottleneck . Pushing two GTX680s you need all the CPU optimization you can squeeze ! Without it SLI falls flat on its face . I don't know if I need better CPU or just need to wait until developers use better coding . I have unused threads in Skyrim but if those threads worked this game would run perfect . SLI on or Off seems to give little performance gain . MaxPayne:3 performance gain in SLI jumps up by 50-70% . I wish more games would have that type of optimization !
