Nexus Mod Manager or by hand?

Just curious, I was reading old threads about Steamworks vs Nexus Mod Manager. I just got around to getting Skyrim (was waiting on DLC, I'm slow and had other games to finish) and I haven't done any modding since New Vegas. I remember using FOMM got to be a headache with conflicts. I haven't had a chance to use Nexus Mod Manager and was wondering if most folks use that now or just just install everything by hand and use another manager. Does the NMM do a good job of finding conflicts? Just wondering where to start and what I'm in for. Late to the party. Thanks for any info!

I use NMM to do all my mods, I did both for a while but that end up leading me to having to do full reinstall so i stick with NMM. some of the time / mods will need to be done by hand but  for NMM to me atleast idk what others think. i got 30 mods atm. finding conflicts idk I do that all in my head when looking for mods.

NMM is leaps and bound better than FOMM, BOSS is more integrated with better lord order sorting. In the latest update you can sort your mods into categories so mods won't get lost. For conflicts i'd suggest TESVEdit cause it does better in conflict sorting. You'll have a better time using NMM than hand installing mods.

Hand installing mods is a big no-no cause when it comes time to uninstall a mod you'll be hunting every single file and folder. Just use NMM for mod install/uninstall

Well I´m used to do it by hand so I prefer that way, also I don´t use mods that are too complex and the armours or swords I want I just download the meshes and textures and then put them all into a single esp file.

I prefer to install with NMM as it warns me what files new mods try to overwrite and which mods said files belong to, and removing mods is painless. I also like to make a lot of personal tweaks and fixes to mods I download and it's simply easier to edit the mod, repackage it, then install it with NMM and know everything is going in the right place than hope you didn't accidentally overwrite the wrong files because they have identical directory structures (which can happen if you're editing a custom race with its own skeleton, body mesh, textures, etc.). Also very handy when you install a mod that doesn't turn out to be exactly what you're looking for and want to remove it cleanly without wasting time to hunt through the directories; just quit Skyrim, double click in NMM, then hop back into the game.
