Tatts4Life
As someone who played Oblivion way back in the day before I think there was even a NMM I used Wrye Bash for installing my mods. I've decided To try out Skyrim VR and it seems like Vortex has become the popular mod manager. While rare I have seen people mention wrye bash or bash patch. My question is how do I use Wrye Bash and Vortex together? I've tried googling and looking on YouTube about Using Wrye Bash with Vortex and using Vortex and Wrye Bash together and I come up with nothing. Does anyone have a guide or how to video they can recommend on how to use the two together and if it's possible?
Tannin42
Vortex and Wrye Bash are both mod managers with mostly the same functionality, it's not entirely clear from your post which features you want to use from each. If you intend to download and install mods with Vortex but create bashed patches with WB you can do just that, no special considerations necessary. Install the mods with Vortex, run Wrye Bash, create the patch. Only thing to look out for is that you don't accidentally enable plugins in Vortex that are included in the patch. Some users prefer WB for managing plugin load order. While I don't personally think that's a great idea, you can do it by turning off "Autosort" in the top left of the plugins tab in Vortex. What you shouldn't do is install some mods with Vortex and some with Wrye Bash, if files conflict between those mods, each manager would give the (asset) files it installed priority over those from the other manager with no way for you to control which mods you want to prioritize. (please note that I spoke explicitly about mods and the asset files like textures and such here, not plugins. You can always control the plugin order, no matter which manager installed the plugin)
rmm200
Another post suitable in the Vortex Wiki - with minor editing.Maybe a topic heading "Vortex and Wrye Bash".I always fear collective knowledge getting lost by aging off a forum topic... Tatts4Life
Ok I think I understand what you are talking about. I seem to remember that with Wrye bash and Oblivion things had to be installed in a certain order. One thing I loved about Wrye Bash was how I could place installers in catagories so that I could find them quicker in the list. I would have the base game and DLC's on top, then unofficial patches, Then city overhauls, textures, and then homes. Does Vortex allow me to have organize the files in that way? rmm200
Open up Vortex and click on the Mods tab.Double click on any of your enabled mods. It will open the Detail pane for that mod.One of the dropdowns on that pane is Category. I think these all come from Loot. There are 30 or so for you to choose from. One of them, for example, is Skyrim Special Edition --> Body, Face and Hair.Vortex does a pretty good job at guessing the correct category, but you are free to assign them as you like. The Mod page also lets you filter and display them by Category.
