salawow
Good day everyone ! (not that it is long, but TLDR at the bottom) Same as a lot of peoples, i experience some crash to desktop during gameplay. I play mediumly modded (around 30 mods), and i carefully read all i could about installations/compatibilities, etc. I use NMM and BOSS, have the lastest skyrim update as well as the lastest SKSE update (i don't have script dragon, and none of my mods talked about it). I read a lot about ini's tweak, tried some things, such as the ugridstoload 7 thing.. made my game looks better, but increased the CTD. Some peoples claims you can improve FPS by tweaking ini's, some others talk about magically reducing CTD the same way.. but all the guides i can find that sounds legit are all about better visual and better FPS. So, is there realy a way to reduce/prevent CTD by modifing some lines in the ini's ? Couples of words about my CTD.- It sometimes happens while saving (the save is loadable, so i guess it crashes right after the save)- It sometimes happens while i'm near but outside major cities.- it seems to happens more often soon after i use i carriage. (i disabled fast travel)- it doesn't really happen more now that at the beginning of that game. (i'm at about 150 hours on this one)- none of the crashes are reproducible- sometimes i can play 5+ hours without a single crash, and sometimes it can crash every 10 minutes.- i don't have any other performance problems, my fps is always between 40 and 60, i don't have any stuttering issue, loading/saving times is realy good, nothing to complaint beside the CTDs About my config- intel quad Q9550- radeon 6850 (asus) (1 gb video memory)- 8gb memory- windows 7 x64- (on a side note, i looked often to see how much memory skyrim takes, it ranges from 1.2gb to 1.7gb.. doesn't know if it matters) TLDR: Simply put, it it possible to reduce/prevent crashes to desktop by modifing the ini files ? MotoSxorpio
Monitor GFX Vram usage up til a cTD...if you peak 1024mb+ then you are bursting memory. Lower LOD fades or optimize your textures.
salawow
Monitor GFX Vram usage up til a cTD...if you peak 1024mb+ then you are bursting memory. Lower LOD fades or optimize your textures. Thanks for your answer :) I monitored the vram today, played about 3 hours.. unfortunatly no crashes (lol), and the vram stay between 950 and 985 almost all the time. I will continue to monitor it until it crashes. About LOD fades, are you talking about the sliders in the launcher options, or is it something else ?And by optimizing textures, is that a particular process i can do, or it simply begin by removing some of my HD texture mods ? (i have the mod "2k texture lite", and some weapons/armor/cloth/food high-rez texture mods)
