WafflePirate
Im fairly new to modding my Oblivion, and I really liked Supreme Magicka, so I downoaded it, and that is all fine. It said I need OBSE and the latest oblivion patch, which I have. It says to launch with the OBSE launcher, not the oblivion one, and I click it the screen goes black like normal, and then I am exited out, with two new text files. Shown below... File 1: obse.txtOBSE: initialize (version = 16.3 010201A0)oblivion root = C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\plugin directory = C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\patchedOBSE: deinitialize (I think this is the problem) File 2: obse_loader.txtcrc = 7934C86Cdll = C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\obse_1_2_416.dllhookBase = 00150000loadLibraryAAddr = 7C801D7Bhook thread completelaunching oblivion I really want to try this out, but I can't get this to work! Someone answer my plea for help!
bben46
I am assuming you downloaded the Supreme Magica Update which is the latest version. It requires both OBSE and the latest Official patch. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12466 Check the official topic thread here for possible solutions. http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=39995

Thank you for the help anyways!I also noticed that when it starts, I do hear a half-second clip of the starting music before it closes. :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:EDIT: Is one of my files placed incorrectly? Looking back, that might be the case...I don't have any "OBSE" folder in my Data section... Edit 2: I THINK IM GETTING SOMEWHERE, I moved the src folder to the data section, and my game got all the way to a record of 2 seconds! I could start to see the "Besthedea softworks" sign. Anybody know if I misplaced a file?
bben46
OBSE is not a mod and does not install like a mod. It does not install in the data folder. You must follow the installation instructions exactly for it to work. Then, you must use the included OBSE launcher to start oblivion - OBSE must start before the game. That is the purpose of the OBSE launcher. It starts OBSE, and then the game. If you have an active mod that requires OBSE, if OBSE is not started first it will do what you describe, dump you back to the desktop. OBMM includes an OBSE launcher in its play function. - OBMM is also not a mod and installs differently.

I have been starting my game with the required OBSE launcher, and I have followed the read-me step by step. I did it exactly. I don't know why its won't work, and thats why im here... Im just saying OBSE in Data folder because that's what it said in the document I got, which is confusing me more then I need.... Im gonna try and re-download OBSE and all that. bben46
From the readme that comes with OBSE: 1. Copy obse_1_1.dll, obse_1_2.dll, obse_1_2_416.dll, obse_editor_1_0.dll, obse_editor_1_2.dll, and obse_loader.exe to your Oblivion directory. Not the data directory. This is usually in your Program Files folder, and should contain files called "Oblivion.exe" and "OblivionLauncher.exe".2. Run oblivion by running obse_loader.exe from the Oblivion directory. If you installed Oblivion to the default location, this would be C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\OblivionIf I read you right, you may have put them in the oblivion\data folder. If so, no need to reinstall, just move them from oblivion\data to \oblivion. Let me know if this was the problem.

I have all folders in the Oblivion folder, none in data, and that is the correct folder where they are, with nothing out of place. All the obse.dll files are there.... Thanks for all your help though so far, I really appreciate it.
Lyncor
Sorry to bring up a dead horse of a post, but was this ever resolved? I have the exact same issue, using OBSE 18 and Supreme Magicka 0.90 beta 3 (both latest versions). Does anybody know how I can get it working? Oblivion definitely runs on this machine and I've modded it before, but I have no idea why the game won't load. Basically, I open it up - all in the correct order, using Mod Manager - and it gives me a black window as it loads OBSE before closing and not opening Oblivion at all. Log files: OBSE: initialize (version = 18.6 010201A0)oblivion root = D:\Games\Oblivion\plugin directory = D:\Games\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\checking plugin D:\Games\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\\ChangeConsoleKey.dllplugin D:\Games\Oblivion\Data\OBSE\Plugins\\ChangeConsoleKey.dll (00000001 Change Console Key 00000002) loaded correctlypatchedOBSE: deinitialize crc = 7934C86Cdll = D:\Games\Oblivion\obse_1_2_416.dllhookBase = 001D0000loadLibraryAAddr = 75AC4BC6hook thread completelaunching oblivion Any ideas? Lyncor
Okay, so after further research, I have discovered that the problem lies with SM_OOO.esp If I load the game without that file, seems to open just fine. As instructed, I have been attempting to load SM_OOO after SupremeMagicka.esp, which is after Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esp. Thing is, I DO have OOO installed. -Will not using SM_OOO.esp screw things up?-The tooltip suggests that that file is just to make sure the prices are suitable for OOO. Is that the only thing that this .esp file does? My method of OOO install was not via an omod, it was through an .exe - does this matter? Will I be able to play the game properly?
